Dance with the Devil

"What song? A song played?!" Wendigo asked. "Was it a nice song?!" "There was a time I used to not take things seriously...Heh...right before I caused my dad's sister's death. "

"Yeah, it did; the wendigo in the game played it. It was really sad..."

Ris didn't say anything and just stood up. "Can't help you with that."

"oh.... maybe the game can make it play a happy song..." "Yeah...Heh...Heh... Just a lesson for me....take everything seriously....and no one will die cause of me....Heh..." His laughs were nervous.

"Maybe the wendigo has been alone for a long time and that's why the song is sad."

She helped him up. "Come on, get over it. You'll never find something that makes you happy if you keep remembering the worst memories."

"I know I would be sad all alone..it's a good thing I have the other Wendigos and Recin. I'm never alone anymore." "But I learn from my worst memories...though soon I'll have all the time in the world to relax..."

"You could have Stanley comfort it or something."

"You want to off yourself?!" Ris asked, eyes wide with shock. "For real?!"

"yeah that's a great idea!! I'll make Stanley give that Wendigo a nice hug. And thank it for letting him stay in the cave!" "I mean it's that or become a Phoenix... Because the watcher convinced me being a lich isn't good. So yeah...do you have a better option?"

"Stanley goes to hug the wendigo and it hugs him back, not letting go." The screen of the game showed that happening, with the wendigo looking like a small, furry child. "That's so cute!"

"There is one other option, but do you really want to live that long?"

" Can I bring the Wendigo with me? " "And what would be that, ris? I want to live long enough to make a difference..."

Legion scratched his head. "I don't think that would be possible; the wendigo you see isn't real. It only exists within the game, within that box. It is probably based on a real one or multiple ones, no doubt, but you can't take it with you, sadly."


"You can become a demon."

"Awww....well I guess I'll come visit it when im don't meeting the blight people. " "You..can really do that? What sort if demon would I even become?"

"The wendigo doesn't want Stanley to leave." Legion read out. "Or you could take it with you."

"It's a ritual that's not really been used because, well, a lot of people really like being uh... mortal and human and whatnot. You'll be a fiend, a lesser demon, but even those live as long as the others. I'm actually 94 years old."

"Come on Wendigo. Come with me in an adventure. We are going to do evil but I'll make sure you're well fed!" "I don't want to be a fiend. Id rather be a Phoenix. "

"You have acquired a party member. Give wendigo a name?" Legion read out. "If you don't want to give it one, just leave a blank space."

Ris sighed. "Whoa. You're such an egghead. Why do I even bother..."

"oo what do I call it legion?¡ " "I'm not a egg head! Phoenixes are just cooler then fiends...but then again... phoenixes are literally fire. Can't I be another cool demon or something?"

"Hmm... something clever, something witty...how about you name it... Smithy. Hey, that rhymes!"

"Majority of citizens are lesser demons. Majority of said majority are fiends; weakest of demons, but still generally stronger than a mortal."

"that's a good name!! Smithy the Wendigo!!" "I already am stronger then a mortal." He said looking down. "Wish I was a material demon. But that's impossible. You can't transport ones soul and make them into a demon...or at least no one's ever done it before.."

A victory chime plays. "So, with Smithy now on your side, you'll have a considerably easier job of traversing the landscape and reaching the folks that run the Blight."

"Theoretically, placing someone's soul into a soul gem should work, it's the process of creating the body that doesn't necceserily leave the soul intact," she explained. "Even now, creating material demons might leave them with talents and some other tidbits excluding memory that belonged to the poor sods souls' used in the process."

Wendigo did a victory dance like she won the game or something. "Hmm...well I could use the animals I have....and asking Lillith to take away souls is possible...but I dont know anyone who can make the body... maybe the watcher knows..."

Legion smiled. "Carry on, sis."

"If this Watcher guy really is as powerful as the Devil believes, he could probably make you a demon right here, right now, no strings attached, maybe even a material one."

"my name isn't sis...I'm Wendigo.. right?" "Then let's go to him!!" Recin said looking for the watcher.

"That's just a saying people say to other people they care about. It's an affection thing."

Legion's mirror image overheard them and led them to the Watcher's room, where he was reading a book. On the way, they could see more mirror images taking care of the fort by wiping the floors and stoking the fireplaces.

"ohh....well I care for you too! " Wendigo gave a big smile. "Um watcher....can you turn me into a demon...a cool one.?"

A grumble came from Legion's stomach. "Huh, looks like I spent a bit more time than I thought I would. Since I'm going to the kitchen, would you like a snack as well?"

The Watcher dropped the book. "Excuse me, what?"

"I like raw mobian please!!" "I said I'd like to be a demon. That will enable me to live longer...you can turn me into one right?"
