Dance with the Devil

Recin quickly made a bubble around him and the watcher. As soon as he did Wendigo went savage and ran to the bubble. She sounded like a a rabid hyena hitting the bubble. "This always happens when she's hungry. She can't control that raging Wendigo spirit for too long before she goes berserk."

"Let her go; for once, I'd like to see what happens when an unstoppable force meets an inmovable object."

"But she's going to eat me?!? Are you sure?" Wendigo's eyes seemed to glaze over. "I mean ok...she can't see movement right now... So if we stay perfectly still...she won't attack us..." Recin then lowed the bubble. And stayed perfectly still.

The Watcher did the same, but he kept trying to stare the beast down.

Wendigo looked around and even went Infront if Recin. She started at him but since he did move she Thought he was stone and moved around. Then her eyes met with the watcher's. She couldn't get her gaze if of it. She made weird noises but didn't attack.

She then started to hear screaming. It was very quiet at first, but steadily became louder as he pierced her with his gaze; it was probably not the same one she was accustomed to.

This was anger. Unbridled, unflinching fury.

She could feel the room geting chiller.

Wendigo scratched her ear and started to shake a little. Wendigo looked confused. She looked around for the origin of the screaming. It was usually something that is moving but there wasn't anything moving. Wendigo made louder noises. She sounded confused and..scared.

It then started screaming her name; not Wendigo, her real name, something even she thought didn't exist.

To further drive the point of escalation, she could see her breath, just like she could in the cold.

The room was getting darker and what little light there was taking on a green hue.

The Watcher opened his mouth, revealing black teeth that dripped green as if they very recently bit into something that bled that colour.

Of course, all of this happened just inside Wendigo's mind; all Recin saw was the Watcher having a staring contest with the Wendigo.

What's Wendigo's real name?))

Wendigo covered her ears and closed her eyes. "S....st...stop......" She kept saying it repeatedly as she shook even more..."N...name?..... N...N..no...."

((I don't know. I just wrote that to add tension; monsters are supposed to freak out when someone knows their real name))

"But I didn't even take the first bite..." She could hear the words from all around her, but the Watcher didn't open his mouth and Recin didn't hear a thing.

Well you've got Wendigo freaking out))

Wendigo went down the the floor and went into the fetal position. "I...I took t....th....the first .....bite.....I'm sorry........I'm sorry.........I was hungry..........I...I had....too..." She started crying.

"I'm quite sure that means I'm the bigger monster," the Watcher said. "And I'm perfectly fine with that. It's true."

"What did you do to her? All I saw was some serious staring and then now she's on the floor...crying.."

"I used a little magic to make a point that fighting me would be a very, very bad idea," the Watcher explained. "All happened in just her mind."

"how long is that going to last? Or better question..have any food I can give her?"

"Of course. Legion's always nice enough to bring me something, even though I don't really eat..." he took a bag, kneeled down and handed Wendigo a baguette filled with meat, cheese and various assorted veggies. "You know, all you had to do was ask; it's not very polite to consider eating your host when you're a guest."

Wendigo smelled the food and eat it quickly. He eye began to unglaze and she looked at him in fear.

"Don't worry; I didn't mean the thing I told you," he told her. "I don't think killing solves anything, really. It just maintains a cycle of hatred."

I'm... sorry.... I was hungry..."

He handed her the entire bag; it had at least two more baguettes and other assorted goodies.

"Do you want to see what she saw?" He asked and looked at Recin.

"Yeah...I guess" Wendigo eats some more calmly.

The Watcher gave him the same stare he gave to the Wendigo and repeated the same steps, the only change being that the voices screamed out everything bad Recin has ever done.

"With nowhere for the soul to go, the darkness shall consume you..." Again, the Watcher didn't open his mouth, yet Recin could still hear him.

"no...lies!!!!! I won't let the darkness corrupt me!!!!"

The Watcher and the room went to normal. "Hmm. I suppose it doesn't always work when you're expecting it," he said. "Still, it intimidates ninety-nine percent of the time."

"That only got me scared...and angry!"
