In the Middle of Summer

Reena seemed to understand what he meant now. She smiled and laughed a little bit.
"Well, there's a hair dryer, sure," she said, "But I was talking about a big dryer. Like when we did laundry together the last time we met. Remember?"

"Of course. My mistake." Wolf replies, "Should we go now then? Or did you want to wait for the rain to stop?"

"The walkways are pretty covered, I think we can manage now," Reena said, peering outside again. "And it'll pass some more time until the storm passes, too."

Wolf nods to Reena.

"Alright. I'll go and start packing stuff up." he says.

He stands up from the bed and walks back over to the bathroom.

"Yeah, you can just bundle it all up and we'll toss it in for a bit," Reena agreed.

She glanced out the window once more before turning back towards the rest of the room. Stepping past the chair, the Klee Kai proceeded to flop over on her front on the bed. Her arms stretched out in front of her and she lifted her feet behind her, crossing them at the ankles to wait for Wolf to gather his clothing.
Her ears did swivel back a little at the another crash of thunder overhead, but she didn't move much otherwise, aside from her lightly swaying tail behind her.

Wolf takes a couple of minutes to make his way around the bathroom and gather up his clothing, putting it back inside the still soaked bags that they had been removed from. He glances towards the clothing items that Reena had hung up to dry.

"Did you want to put your belongings into the dryer as well?" he asks from the bathroom.

"Y'know, I guess I could," Reena called back, "Can you grab 'em for me?"

Wolf grabs the articles of clothing Reena had left to dry and put them on top of his clothing in his bag. He takes one more look around to make sure he had everything, then heads back to the doorway of the bathroom. He steps back out into the main room and spots Reena lying on the bed. He raises one eyebrow slightly.

"Comfy?" he asks.

By this point, the Klee Kai was resting her head on her forearms. Her ears perked as Wolf came out of the bathroom and she peered towards him.

"Yup, just waitin' on you," she replied, "Ready?"

He nods back at her.

"Got everything here." he replies, "But my bag is soaked through too. It might not be good to bring everything back in it."

Reena braced both paws against the bed, then pushed herself upright and sat back on her feet.

"Well," she suggested, "think the bag can handle getting thrown in the dryer, too? We can just thwack all those birds with one stone if we go ahead and do that."

"Hmmm... I don't know." he replies.

He glances at the bag, then back to Reena.

"I've never tried before." he adds.

"I'm guessing there's probably a tag on the inside that tells you," Reena pointed out, "Why don't we have a look after we empty it back out over there?"

She began to scoot back off of the bed and rose back up to her feet, then started off to where she'd left her sandals.

"If we can't dry it, we'll just fold everything and carry it back, no problem!"

"I hope it won't be a problem. I'm always trying to avoid them." Wolf replies, "I do wish I had a fresh set of clothes so I could put these ones I have on into the dryer too."

"Yeah, I don't think I have anything you'd wear," Reena admitted, though a smile across her muzzle betrayed the fact that she was obviously trying to imagine Wolf wearing her clothes.

"I suggested the towel thing, but you're too shy for that, too, so I'm not really sure what to tell you there..."

Reena glanced away, but paused.

"Although..." she added, "Maybe I could check and see if they have a robe or something you could wear?"

"I don't like the idea of lounging around in a public space with just a towel on..." he replies.

Then he glances over at Reena when she mentions a robe.

"Do they have something here?" he asks.

"Well, some hotels have robes for guests to wear, like when they get out of the pool and stuff," Reena replied, "Want me to call the front desk and ask?"

Wolf considers this for a few moments.

"I guess it wouldn't hurt to check." he replies.

Reena nodded. She slipped her feet back into her sandals, then moved over past Wolf and to a night table beside the bed. The Klee Kai turned and plopped back down onto the bed for lifting the receiver and raising it to her ear. She promptly hit a key on the phoneset and then waited a couple of rings before someone picked up on the other end.

"Hi! My friend and I got soaked in the rain and all his clothes are wet so we were just heading to the laundry room to dry everything, but he needs something to wear in the meantime. Do you guys happen to have any robes?"

She looked towards Wolf, smiling a little as the person on the phone gave a short reply.

"Great! Can I just come get that at the front desk? ... Awesome, thank you!"

The dog set the phone back down. "Yeah, they've got a robe you can wear," she told him, "We just have to go and get it."

He watches her as she makes her call and then responds to the positive result.

"Well, that sounds good. Is it going to be on the way? And are we going to have to cross through the rain to get there?" he asks.

Reena hopped back up to her feet. She smiled a little sheepishly.

"Tell you the truth, I'm not sure where the laundry room is, I've just seen signs for it," she admitted, "But I know where the office is so we can just go there first!"

She didn't wait for a reply as she patted the pocket of her shorts and then paused. She was missing her room key, it seemed. Her eyes searched the room and spotted it quickly over by the sink where she'd taken it out of her wet shorts earlier. The Klee Kai quickly made her way back over that way to retrieve the card and tuck it safely into her pocket.

"Alright. Guess we'll figure it out." Wolf replies.

He then watches Reena search briefly for her door key.

"Got everything?" he asks once she puts the card in her pocket.

"Yep!" Reena replied, heading for the door. "Let's get some laundry done!"

As she made it to the door and pulled it open, the sound of the pouring rain became loud and clear again. It didn't appear to have let up at all since they arrived. Reena wasn't overly concerned since they were still under the cover of the roofing and she stepped out onto the walkway and started off back towards the stairs.

Wolf slings his bag over one shoulder and follows Reena out. He pulls the door shut behind him and then makes his way to the stairs after her.

Reena led the way down the stairs and began to follow the cover of the building around towards the front to the office. It wasn't a very long walk to get there and Reena was soon pulling open the glass door, the sound of a bell jingling overhead accompanying the gesture.

The cheetah seated behind the counter looked up at smiled. "Hi, were you calling about the robe?" she asked.

"Yeah, that was me!" Reena replied.

The spotted feline nodded. "Just a moment, then." She stood up, turning and stepping through a doorway behind her.

Reena glanced back towards Wolf while they waited.
