Chapter 1:
Ember awoke to the sound of her phone alarm. Pulling out her earbuds, she checked the time. 3:00 AM. She only had about 4 hours before the guards would come to wake her up. Quickly pulling a suitcase out from under her giant red and yellow canopy bed, she opened it and grabbed things for her trip and put them inside. She packed an assortment of foods, ranging from dried mangos to a bottle of sprite. She took off her orange nightgown and red slippers and put on her usual yellow t-shirt tied at her belly, with a red tank top under it, finishing off with black yoga pants and yellow flats. She packed her nightclothes and a fancy orange ball gown with red designs intricately painted like sparks on it. She also packed some random tank tops, t-shirts, and jeans. She put a portrait of her parents inside, followed by a small knife just in case. She packed extra pairs of gloves, knowing things could go bad quickly if she only brought one pair. Closing her suitcase, she looked around her room one last time, and a single fiery tear slid down her cheek. Yes, she would miss being here in the castle. Although it wasn't always nice being a princess, with all of the manners and properness (is that even a word?), she would miss it, almost as much as she would miss her parents. She stood there for a while, but she checked her phone again, and saw that it was 4:00 AM. She grimaced as she realized her phone would have to stay at the castle, because they could track her through it. 'It would be utterly useless anyway,' she thought, 'without any wifi.' She turned it off and placed it on her dresser, and she opened the window.
A loud knock echoed through the room, and a door opened as a flustered servant ran into the room. Ember quickly closed the window and spun around. "Your Highness! The king has decided to change the attack on the water kingdom to right now!" the flustered servant yelled, pausing to catch her breath. "Why does it matter to me?! I am busy at the moment and do NOT appreciate you barging in on me!" Ember frustratedly threw the suitcase down. She had almost successfully run away, but this servant just HAD to run in, and she just HAD to tell Ember all about the attack on the water kingdom that just HAD to happen now...... Ember sighed. She knew she was being harsher than usual, which was clearly evident as the servant backed away, a shocked look fixated onto her face. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have snapped at you.... I just don't understand why I have to be told about this," explained Ember. "Well, the king wanted you to come with him to the attack, so you could see what to do when you become Queen." Ah ha! Ember remembered her father telling her she would come with him today. Her happiness in knowing that this would happen quickly faded to sadness. Of all the nights, why did he have to show her tonight? The servant looked her up and down with a displeased look. "Your Highness, you must wear a dress tonight. We can't take you to the attack looking like that!" Ember sighed and opened her dresser, picking out a sunset colored evening gown. She quickly put in on, avoiding the gaze of her servant. "I will meet you by the gates, where we are preparing a chariot." With that, the servant left the room. Ember quickly stuffed her original choice of clothing into the suitcase, and took it with her out the door. She had a plan to escape this time, and she promised that it would be successful.....

Chapter 2:
"I feel like I'm gaining weight. What do you think?" A small, thin figure stood in front of a mirror. "Your Majesty, you are beautiful just the way you are." A servant stood in the corner, neatly sorting through outfits for the fair princess. Mist turned around in front of the glass, studying her reflection, searching for any imperfections. After looking over herself many times, she walked back to her servant. "Have you found anything that may be good enough for the ball tonight?" The servant pulled a few dresses out of the drawer, until she found a lacey, glitzy ball gown with a slit going up to her knee. It was turquoise, with lime green designs like flowing water. It had poofy shoulders and long, green sleeves ending at her wrists. "It's beautiful," said the light blue wolf. "Now that that's settled, you must get ready for your trip," proclaimed the servant. The servant left the room, and Mist grabbed a suitcase. While she packed, she thought of why she was going on this trip. The king and queen wanted to talk about important things, so they sent her on a trip to an exotic island, named Isle Hawana. 'I wonder what they were going to talk about.' Mist grabbed her phone and texted her friend, Sapphire. Her bestie was not aloud to come, which Mist thought was very unfair. 'R u coming to the dance 2nite?' Mist texted.
She would never figure out what her friend said, because at that moment another servant burst in. "The fire kingdom is attacking! We must go immediately!" The servant grabbed Mist's arm, and they were out the door. Running down the halls, Mist could see a raging battle going on outside the windows. They walked to the end of the hallway, where soldiers awaited their arrival. The soldiers escorted her aside, making sure she was not hurt. Mist could see a fault in their plan: what happens if all of the soldiers get hurt? She watched as the soldiers fell over one by one, killed by the firey evils of the other kingdom. Her steady walking soon broke into a run, dodging fireballs and sparks on the battlefield. She found a safe place and hid there until she could find an opening. Looking around, she saw a fire elemental girl with a tattered evening gown run across the battlefield, carrying a suitcase. Mist wanted to get a better look, but she had no choice as a fire elemental came into her safe haven. "What do we have here?" He growled. He stepped towards her, a fireball in his hand. Before he could do any damage, Mist ran past him, burning herself severely. She half ran, half limped away to find a better place. The fighting was everywhere, and there was death everywhere she looked. She turned around to find a horrific sight: her father, dead at the hands of the fire king. Tears burned in her eyes, as she ran away from the terrible place. She could not run back to the castle, it was overrun with evils. She instead ran into the forest, her flowing hair leaving water droplets on the leaves. She tripped on a root and fell, preferring to stay there instead of getting up and pressing on. Her mind blacked out at that moment, and she could not remember much. All she remembered was a thin figure, and a caring voice tending to her burns.

Chapter 3:
"Come on, get up...." Ember ran a hand through her flaming hair. The blue wolf in the woods was still unconscious, and she was starting to get worried. 'What if she doesn't wake up?' Thoughts raced through her mind like bullets. After shaking the girl one more time, Ember got up and shook her head. 'It's no use,' thought Ember, 'I'll just have to wait...' She took a look at the dark red skin where the wolf's light blue fur had been singed away. It was a bad and grotesque burn, a noticeable imperfection on a perfect figure. Ember had no idea how to fix it. As she finally gave up on trying to remember a cure, the rain started, right on cue. Ember didn't react at all, until she realized as the water droplets started to land on her firey fur, they would put her fire out! She started to run deeper into the shelter of trees, but she remembered the young girl laying in the thin woods, completely vulnerable to every nightmare in the woods. She quickly turned around, wincing as the water fell, weakening her fire. She grabbed the wolf's arm and dragged her away, not remembering to even be a bit careful with the body behind her. She wished she had chosen a dress with a jacket, so she could at least keep herself somewhat warm. The thin, tattered evening gown offered little to no protection against the weather. After running for a long time, she finally found a spot with little to no rain coming through. Smiling to herself out of pride for finally being able to make a descision herself, she turned around only to find her smile fade away as she realized she had completely forgotten about the wolf dragging behind her. The perfect blue fur had become matted and ripped, with various small twigs and leaves tangled in it. Dirt was all over her face, and her hair was a complete mess.
Mist's eyes fluttered open, taking in the scene before her. She was laying face up on the ground, staring at a dark canopy of trees with various raindrops falling down. She blinked twice as one landed in her eye, and she tried to sit up. A searing pain traveled through her leg and into her body, forcing her back down. She cried out, alerting the attention of a nearby fire elemental. It was the girl she had seen running through the battle with the suitcase! The girl looked up with wide eyes. "Don't hurt me, I promise I won't do anything to you!", Mist cried. She tried to move, but it felt as if she had hit every bone in her body. The fire girl's eyes turned from surprised to concerned. "I won't hurt you, I promise. Are you feeling okay?" Mist shook her head. "No..... It feels as if I've been dragged by a reckless kidnapper!" At this the fire girl's lips pursed, and she looked guilty of something. "Well, that's really a shame.... I'm Ember by the way, the former fire princess." Mist's eyes widened. What a coincidence, her new aquainntance was her former greatest enemy. "I'm Mist, the princess of the water kingdom." She attempted to get up once again, this time she finally came to her feet with great pain. "Gosh, what happened? The last thing I remember was...." What was the last thing she remembered? There was getting ready for the ball, her servant coming to get her, going to the battle, and.... Ah, yes. The horrific memory of her father falling to the ground flashed in her mind. She quickly shook her head, but it was only replaced with the rememberance of her burn. She looked to her arm, to find the patch of dark, crackled skin where the fire soldier had burned her. It was awful, and Mist could not look at it without feeling at least slightly queasy. She sat back down. "I'm going back to sleep for now. I cannot bear to keep my eyes open any longer!" Ember sighed, and shook her head. "We can't risk any more time. We have to get going, they're gonna find us out here, this close to the battle!" Mist was puzzled at this. Didn't they want to be found? Ember seemed to read her mind. "I'm running away, and I can't be found. That's why I said I was the former princess." Mist understood now, and she slowly stood up again, her legs shaking. "Well, let us go then," she replied breathlessly. The two girls, completely opposite, walked deeper into the woods together.

Chapter 4:
Let's take a break from those two girls and travel to a not so far off place: Brightport, a place that is anything BUT bright. A green echidna had walked over to a group of rugged, muscular animals, and she waited patiently for them to take notice of her. "Eh?" One man looked up, his look of annoyance soon faded to confused as he look the small figure up and down. "What would a fine lady like you be doing in a terrible city like this?" She turned around and looked behind her mockingly. "A lady? Where? I don't see a lady anywhere." She turned back around with a cool look on her face. "I came here to join you, not to get random compliments thrown at me." The men looked at each other, and burst out laughing. A thinner hedgehog with silver eyes and a leather jacket spoke up this time. "A girl has NEVER become a street fighter before. Are you sure those delicate arms of yours can handle the toughness?" The other men burst out laughing once again, although it wasn't a funny joke. "My name's Scar." He held out his hand, and Rocky took it reluctantly. He immediately flipped her over, her body landing hard on the ground. "Heh. Guess you're just as strong as I thought: not at all." Rocky got up, and brushed the dirt off of her clothes. "This isn't over yet. You haven't tried to fight me. That last thing was just unfair." The hedgehog's silver eyes flashed. "So you want a fight, huh? Well come on, lady. Let's get this going." The man quickly punched her, catching her off guard. Blood slightly dripped from her nose, and she winced in pain. "The names.... Rocky." With that, she punched him in the stomach so he lost his balance, and she quickly kicked him in the legs so he fell over. A crowd gathered, as she punched him repeatedly until he pushed her off. "You're going to regret that." He lunged for her neck, this time truly out for blood. She dodged quickly, and punched him as he flew past her. "Well, I'm not going to regret it today." She placed her foot on his chest, holding him down. The crowd was silent, them they cheered. Someone had finally beat Scar! The other men honored her as a member of their group, and some patted Scar on the back, saying "next time, buddy." Scar glared menacingly at Rocky. "Just you wait. I'll beat you someday!" Rocky rolled her eyes and the group walked off together.
Sorry it's short, my mom didn't want me to be on for too long. Also, I made up Brightport, it's not real.

Re: Elemental
Chapter 5 (I bolded it this time yay):
Ember opened her suitcase and started to sift through it. Pulling out a warm-colored tye-dye t-shirt and black yoga pants, she tiptoed around the sleeping Mist and behind a tree. She peeled off the tattered evening gown and took of her gloves, and put on the cleaner clothes. She went back to the suitcase and grabbed a black jacket, putting it on. She yawned, and looked at the beautiful forest before her. It had finally stopped raining, which meant that she could explore this place. She walked around the trees, each one holding thousands of years of knowledge. This place must be beautiful in summer, she thought. It was bordering on winter, and it was almost cold enough for snow to start falling. The leaves were basically all gone, except for a few dying survivors. They crunched under her feet, creating a crisp, satisfying sound. She smiled, remembering her princess days when she would try to step on all of the leaves with her friends. Good times, she thought. Frowning slightly, she shook the memories away. She couldn't think of those times anymore, it was time for her to forget them. She focused her attention instead on a great oak tree in the middle of the forest. I'll bet you could tell me stories for years. The oak tree's branches blew in the wind, as if saying hello. She gently laid her hand on the bark.
Flames spread up the bark of the tree, catching fire to the branches and the surviving leaves were burnt to crisps. Crap crap crap, she had forgotten to put on gloves! The fire reached the ground and spread to other trees. A ring of fiery trees quickly assembled around her, which would have trapped her if she wasn't made of fire herself. Mist isn't made of fire! Mist was quite the opposite of fire, in fact. Ember would have to act quickly before the flames reached her. She ran through the trees, probably spreading even more fire. She threw on another pair of gloves and closed her suitcase. She looked up, expecting Mist to be there. Where is that stupid wolf? She searched the immediate area for a flash of light blue, only to find a bit of her shirt ripped on a twig. The blue wolf had appeared to have run off, probably as soon as she smelled smoke. She picked up the suitcase and decided to look for her. Although she had thought she had checked every nook and cranny of the burning forest, she could not find any other people inside, not even a piece of her fur, another ripped part of clothing, nothing. Until she turned around and saw a horribly burnt shoe lying on the ground, seemingly pointing toward the flames. A closer look showed that it was definitely green, just like Mist's.

Re: Elemental
'Where am I? Where is she?' Mist ran around in repeated circles, trying to find a way out and her friend.
But her friend wasn't there, and neither was a path she could use to get out of the inferno. The flames were slowly closing in on her; the grass around her feet would surely catch flame soon. If only she was like Ember, she could just walk through the flames. "EMBER!" She cried once again. She had shouted her name many times, but Ember never came. If only she hadn't met her in the battle, none of this would have happened. If the battle had never happened, she wouldn't be in this situation right now. If the fire kingdom hadn't attacked, she wouldn't be about to die. 'But it did happen, and you can't fix it.' Her conscious was right: she couldn't do anything about this. It was all the fire kingdom's fault. It was all.... Ember's fault. Ember shouldn't have left her by herself. 'What was she even doing in that forest?' For all Mist knew, she could have started the fire herself. As soon as that thought entered her mind, it was the last straw for the poor grass beneath her feet. The fire reached her and she was engulfed in flames.
Ember frantically searched for her friend. 'She could be anywhere!' She ran past a tree for the 5th time when she suddenly paused. Was that a yell? A faint feminine voice was heard not too far away. She had found her! Ember ran past everything and into the circle of flames....... to watch her friend get engulfed by them. "No!" She gasped. She ran to her friend and grabbed her by the shoulders, and ran through the flames, unfortunately burning Mist in the process. There was nothing she could do about it, all she could do was get her out of this dying forest before Mist herself died. After running through what seemed like miles of trees, she broke into a clearing with a stream. She frantically threw Mist into the water, to maybe give relief to her burns. It didn't seem to do much, because Mist just floated there. Ember quickly picked her up and laid her down on the other side of the stream. She looked over her burns. They were bad, and almost all over her body.
If only she had gotten there in time, she could have helped her. But she was too late, and now her friend was going to probably die. If she had put gloves on, this stupid fire wouldn't have happened. If her stupid parents hadn't attacked... She grabbed for her suitcase, only to find it wasn't there. 'Crap!' She had left her suitcase back in the forest! She couldn't leave Mist here, so she thought of what was in it. It wasn't hard to get money, so she could probably buy a change of clothes later on. If they could find a city. If they could find jobs. If Mist could work. There was always an 'if'. Why did she have to mess everything up? She sighed and put her hair in the water so it wouldn't be on fire and laid on top of it, so she wouldn't burn this whole field. She was lucky she had so much hair. She closed her eyes, hoping they would both wake up in the morning.
