Black rook takes white knight

Wham!

Versil went hurtling through another pile of rubble remnants of some skyscraper that had stood there once. The fennec had staid in the ruined city to restore law and order there and to rebuild it. Which had been going pretty well all things considered until THEY came into town.

Now his younger companion ismael lay a few feet away from where he just crash landed, lying in a growing puddle of his own blood. Their opponent, a black furred fennec calling himself Rook had placed a white pawn in ismaels hand at some points, version couldn't remember when. But then younger fennec, so bright and full of life once was probably dead now.

He tried to heave himself to his feet once more, glowering at the almost bored looking rook who looked at him with cold yellow eyes, a cold reflection of his own, but the other fennecs eye whites where pitch black, tainted...

They had simply walked in, rook and the girl who called herself revery. Announcing they where the ones who had set Shaik-Ruis fall into motion, the ones responsible for the destruction of his home. He'd searched for them half his life time and now that he'd found them they mopped the floor with him.

He growled in frustration, teetering on his feet. Rook tilted his head at him, casualy twisting his arm a little to loosen the muscles. "Black rook takes white knight" the tainted fennec stated. And as if that was his que, versil snarled and lunged for him once more.

BANG! The sound of a bullet shot through the air, an ear-bleeding shot which collided with the ground near the black furred fennec, rupturing the pavement and leaving a nice little hole in the process, the bullet thoroughly embedded into the ground. Not like that would change much. The source belonged to a pistol, of course, yet the one holding it was an unusual fellow.

How he hated returning here, but this place was continuously talked about. Rumours had formed. Coming back a final time to this damned destroyed city would hardly kill him. In theory.

A rabbit with a deep scowl on his face. One half of his body white, the other orange. Split down, right in the middle. A clean cut. The 'white' side of his face was mostly pierced, down those floppy ears and on his eyebrow. The other side? Clean. He seemed to be dressed like a sheriff, hat included which forced both ears down beside him, and a long brown overcoat. One hand was in his pocket, while the other was holding the pistol which fired mere seconds ago.

A bored expression crossed his face as he twirled the gun handle around his finger with great expertise, his white and orange eyes examining the two slowly and carefully before letting out a sigh. He spoke but one word.

"Explain."

Under normal circumstances this was a great way to interupt a battle, but the only one startled by the gunshot had been Versil, who screeched to a halt immidiatly, ears flattened, eyes turning towards the source.

The black furred fennec, who had been closest to the shot had already been standing didn't move, but an expression of annoyance bloomed on his face.His cold yellow eyes slowly shifted to the rabbit who had dared interupt, his body turning now as well to face him.

"Watch out!"Versil cried of the warning at the rabbit at the same time the other fennec had opened his mouth and spewn a cloud of paralysing, toxic smog at him, the wind in his favor.
