Flak the Vulture Empty Flak the Vulture

Post by Valtiel Sun Nov 12, 2017 4:34 pm

Name: Flak Heizruk
Nicknames: Aetherbrand
Age: 19
Species: Ossifrage (Bearded Vulture)
Gender: Male
Occupation: Self employed weapon engineer. Part time anarchist, full time pyromaniac.

Appearance:
Standing at 4'0", Flak dawns a suit of orange armor with black and gray accents that hides his true features beneath. The surface of the armor is smooth to the touch, with the exception of a few fresh battle scars and scorch marks. The material is dense, and not very reflective despite it being metallic. The eye-shields of his helmet posses a similar appearance to the optics of metal mobians. A pitch black screen with two pairs of magma-yellow optics synchronized with his own eye movements. Additionally, the helmet features several respirators and room for a beak, identifying the mobian inside as a bird of sorts.

Personality traits

Likes:
- Fire, explosives, and volatile compounds. Bewitched by the destructive nature, Flak is drawn to these things, if not creating them himself.
- Quotes! Flak has always been a sucker for quotes, especially from his favorite songs and movies. He won't hesitate a second to drop a quote whenever he can.
- Destruction and vandalism. Flak is just one of those people who loves to tear down what others built.
- Messing with people through means of pranks, sabotage, or trickery. Half of the time it's playful, the other half it's pure, over-the-top, malevolence.

Dislikes:
- People and organizations who believe they can make the world a better place. Even if he can be hypocritical of this some times.
- The snow and rain. Flak has never been a fan of the cold or anything that shelters, summons, or produces it.
- G.U.N
- The Eggman Empire
- Self titled heroes.

Personality:

Flak is an obstreperous individual with a passion for mischief and destruction. A true pyromaniac at heart. This shameless hooligan loves to watch things burn, practically addicted to the heat and the glow of a growing flame.

Most people who've encountered Flak under his "Aetherbrand" alias would describe him as sinister, mischievous, and downright cruel. Others believe he simply has a death-wish and wants to bring the world down with him. Both common misconceptions. While is sense of humor is actually quite cruel, Flak doesn't have a genuine disdain for the world or the people who live in it, with a few exceptions. His goal is to entertain himself the ways he knows how in a dull world. Through laughter, chaos, confusion, and adrenaline, Flak plans to scorch the face of Mobius with his presence as Aetherbrand. For better, or worse.

It may not seem like it most of the time, but he possesses a fair level of intellect, something he's rather frugal to share. He is considerably experienced in the subjects of chemistry, thermodynamics, pyrotechnics, and engineering. He rarely concerns himself with logic, despite his investment in scientific studies.

Combat traits

Standard Gear:

- Aetherbrand Armor: Flak's greatest achievement. A powered suit of armor that's primary use is to shield him from thermal and incendiary weapons, specifically the ones at his own disposal. This does not mean his heat resistance doesn't have it's limits. It also provides him protection from the toxic fumes and chemicals.

- Flamethrower: A specialty designed gauntlet mounted flamethrower fueled with Napalm-B. The wrist mounted device is capable of launching the incendiary agent at an approximate of 70 meters.

-Fougasse Mines: A modernized design of the flame fougasse devices. The custom design based off of more modern casing serve little purpose other than convenience. The result more or less remains the same, other than a penalty to it's blast radius. ((Fougasse mines uses an explosive charges to propel burning liquid onto a target.))

-Incendiary Grenades: Compact, high fuel based incendiary explosives with a fuse of twenty-five seconds after activation. Mainly used for breaching, starting fires, and detonating other fuel sources. With proper modification, the incendiary grenades can be made into makeshift incendiary traps.

-Jump-Pack: Installed onto the back of Flak's suit of armor is a pair of thrusters that allow him to close in on combatants just out of his flamethrower's range.

Strengths:
- Great at close range combat.
- His use of traps makes him an increasingly difficult target to get near.
- Good at improvising weapons and traps on the spot.

Weaknesses:
- EMPs
- Electrical overloads.
- Has little to no defense against certain types of magic.
- Ineffective at long ranges.
- His armor can be pierced by higher caliber weapons.
- He is a pathological taunter.

History
Flak was the second child of the Heizrik family, second to his older sister, Scyrein, who practically raised him since he was three with the help of a human scientist named Ghauss, who took in the two avian siblings in as if they were his own children. Flak never knew what happened to his birth parents, nor did he ever desire to. Not that he wasn't curious, but he loved his family just the way it was with his sister and their adopted human father. Knowing what he does now, Flak is afraid to know what became of their real parents.

But at the time life seemed normal to them. They were too young to really understand what normal was for everybody else, not that they knew anyone else. Instead of a public school, Ghauss personally educated the two, teaching them everything he knew about science. Even at a young age, Flak was quite the prodigy of Ghauss, however, young Flak much preferred to spend his time watching old 70's and 80's movies, even when they scared him terribly. Luckily for him, his sister could always find a way to calm him down. Perhaps the most fateful of the occasions being when she told him that even monsters were afraid of fire, and she'd be there with a match to protect him. Ever since that day, Flak developed an infatuation with fire that followed him throughout the years.

As Flak grew, his obsession with fire was less about security and more about an admiration of it's destructive nature, and the warmth it provided. His infatuation grew so powerful that he dedicated the rest of his time spent with Ghauss learning about thermal and chemical weapons. Scyrein was very concerned for her little brother's well being by this point in time. Although, Ghauss was all too happy to teach Flak everything he wanted to know about these weapons.

It was something the two never realized until a year later, by the time it was too late, that Ghauss was a fanatic with a bone to pick with G.U.N for shutting down his research. Ghauss had secretly been funding his own operation for most of their lives, constructing weapons between the time he spent with Scyrein and Flak. Despite this dark secret, Flak still loved Ghauss as a father, but Scyrein didn't want a life as a criminal, no, a terrorist, for her little brother.

Scyrein was forced to make the most heartbreaking decision of her life. Calling in an anonymous tip to G.U.N, she attempted to rescue Flak from the path he was going down. Even if it meant betraying the man who raised them. Instead of saving her brother, this carved his path in stone instead.

G.U.N raided the facility that housed the family hours later while Scyrein took Flak to the movies. The soldiers arrested Ghauss and destroyed his life's work before the movie was even over, but there was still going to be a heavy presence there for a while. Scyrein knew this, and Flak knew something was wrong. The way she kept trying to delay going home made it abundantly clear that something was wrong. It wasn't long until Flak learned of his sister's betrayal.

Such a betrayal was unforgivable, and inexcusable. In that moment, Flak hated his sister more than he's ever hated anyone or anything in his life. Daydreams of fire flooded his mind. He wanted to watch her burn for a split second, but the thought disturbed him. They were still family, no matter what. Though, it didn't mean they had to be friends anymore.

Flak set out onto the world himself a week later, on his seventeenth birthday. He still had much to learn to continue his work, and he couldn't afford Scyrein interfering again.

In two years time, Flak made incredible progress on his research, inventing an arsenal of weapons, and even a suit of armor. Wearing the armor, Flak goes under the alias of Aetherbrand, a deranged pyromaniac making his upbringing Mobius.
