Re: The Bratty Behemoth
All of the pieces for a beautiful day were falling into place for Dave Spivey. Lovely weather, a nice cold drink, a saucy magazine hidden behind some newspapers, and a free pass to do whatever he wanted in the city. Granted, he was suppoed to investigate any unusual activity by order of his superiors at Kanyon Korps., but it seemed that fate itself was taking a day to relax on this gorgeous day. If Dave could reach out and kiss this day on the cheek, he would've gladly done so.
That is, until he crossed an alley and out of the corner of his eye spotted some strange goings-on destined to ruin his day. Hiding behind the corner and peeking into the alley, he almost dropped everything he was holding out of suprise and panic. It appeared to only be a kid, but Dave couldn't shake the thought that maybe the kid was harbinger of something far worse. He did just wander out of some portal, after all.
"It would be irresponsible not to investigate" he said, walking backwards and Casually leaning back against a nearby bus stop. Not even looking at which page of his magazine he was on, Dave carefully kept an eye out to watch the kid's moves. If it was just a kid, there was probably no reason to call in reinforcements. If need be, Dave could take him.

Re: The Bratty Behemoth
Dave was practically shaking as the kid approached. Had he been found out already? Keeping his horn in his magazine, he pointed his eyes downwards and tried to follow the kid's feet to figure out his moves.
Dave tensed up when the bus passed by, but relaxed and sighed deeply when the kid walked away from the bus stop. But it was too soon to put down his defenses and give up the investigation. Dave carefully walked sideways, moving away from the bus stop and began leaning against an adjacent light pole.

Re: The Bratty Behemoth
Dave continued to sidled away from the light post and closer towards the kid, taking in as much information as he could from this distance. He almost looked like an average kid heading to school, with his backpack and everything. Had he not seen the portal, the chameleon would've thought nothing of him. Sticking himself to a small tree hardly five feet away from the bus stop, he pulled his newspaper down, carefully looking over the top of it.
But he immediately brought it back up to cover his face when the kid asked the question. So quick he was to cover himself up, Dave accidentally lost the grip on his drink and it fell to the ground between his feet. The glass bottle shattered on the pavement with a sickening CRACK! In a last ditch effort to try to go unnoticed, Dave brought his newspaper so close to his face, so quickly, that his horn pierced through the spine of both the magazine beneath and the newspaper.
"I really hope he didn't notice that." He thought, practically shaking in anticipation.

Re: The Bratty Behemoth
Dave paused before pulling the paper off of his horn and rolling it up. Swallowing hard, he looked down at the pile of glass and spilled soda.
"D-don't worry about it" he said, nudging the pile with his rolled up newspaper. "Someone will come around to pick it up. It's not safe to touch broken glass, after all."
He couldn't help but feel weird giving this kid lectures, but it did help him get closer to the kid. If Dave could convince this little fox that he was trustworthy, it would make the investigation easier. "Hey kid, you shouldn't be wandering the streets al by yourself" he said, adjusting his jacket lapels and throwing his papers in the garbage bin, "I'd be happy to help you get to where you need to go, that's what responsible adults are for, anyway."

Dave stared dumbfounded. "The GUN base?" While suspicious enough, Dave wasn't all that worried. If this kid was trouble, GUN soldiers would be take care of him in a safe, legal way.
"Sure, it's a bit of a walk though." He said, walking ahead of the kid and leading the way. "My name is Dave by the way, Dave Spivey. What's yours

Re: The Bratty Behemoth
Boy, parents these days sure gave their kids funny names. Then again, Dave had know idea where this kid came from. Or when, for that matter.
"So Grief" he casually asked, walking down the street and looking over his shoulder to the boy, "what brings you to Station Square? Field trip? Visiting family?"

Oh dear.
"Ah yes," Dave said, shielding his worry, "It's always good to help your parents whenever you can." He crossed a street and ushered Grief across it like a crossing guard. "I'm kind of on a mission myself, you know"

"Well" he said, kneeling down in front of Grief and whispering. "I'm on patrol looking for bad guys. Believe it or not, I'm a superhero."

"Well not really. Just some goofballs who get powers and decide to misbehave." He stood up and went back to walking down the street. "I have an entire squad to help take down any super powered hooligans."
