Metal city havoc

(Heya, with one of my characters in one role play I thought I'd start one for my second one. Three day posting limit, you will be skipped after that, but don't worry you can take you turn as normal when it comes around again and I fully understand if you have stuff to do and are busy, turn order as people join. Aaannd start)




It had been three days since Arc's arrival in metal city, home to the most advanced extreme Gear races and advanced technology.
There had been rumors of foul play at a robotics factory and stolen weapon designs, Arc was here to investigate and see if he could find the perpetrators behind the rumors, he had nothing better to do anyway.


"Gosh I hate big city's, never can find where you need to go" 


As he continued walking there was the smell of smoke in the air, this caught his attention since it smelled more like burning than normal factory smoke, Suddenly a nearby crowd in front of a TV store got his attention, he walk up to see what was going on.


"-police urge people to stay away from the A.L.C tech factory, where unknown robots have taken over the facility, Intel says G.U.N may have to be called onto the scene"

From the footage could be seen was the burning building, there was fire trucks and other emergency response vehicles at the scene desperately trying to get things under control, from the footage could also be seen were the police try to hold back a group of robots.

*Those bots look familiar, can't make out the details but there definitely mobian themed...meaning they could be those new A.L.C tech security robots* he thought, then he grimaced *Darn, I should have bought that city map when i had the chance, I could have already been there by now*


Suddenly there was an earth shattering explosion, causing nearby car alarms to go off and people to start panicking.

((Seems interesting. Mind if I join?))

Unlike Arc, a certain hedgehog had only just arrived in the city, upon hearing these same rumours that had caught the echidna's attention days beforehand. As the hedgehog got off of a bus, he was holding a phone to his ear. "So, what sort of designs were stolen?" He asked into the receiver.

"From what we can gather, they had something to do with a new weapons system..." Came a voice from the other end. Without warning, a small alarm sounded in the background, catching the hedgehog's attention.
"Rai, what was that?"
"Oh my God... Caen, don't go near the factory. Robots have taken over-" 

Before the woman's voice could complete the sentence, a loud, powerful explosion sounded across the entire city, sending up plumes of smoke. 

Caen reeled back, watching the flames and smoke rise up "Rai, what was that?!" He shouted, before realising he had accidentally hung up. He sighed "best to check, myself." He said, before taking off in that direction.

(No problem Red, current order is now, Me, Red blur.)

Unlike the people around him, Arc kept a level head and quickly isolated the origin of the explosion and smoke, finding that it was only a few blocks over 

"now how the heck did I not see that until now?"

He dashed of to the smoke in the distance. Arriving a few minutes later he found several more bots had poured out of the complex, he noted these one were different from the first, some were now starting to resemble echidnas and hedgehogs, some even looked like G.U.N bots, and where the first had no real weapons these new ones had arm cannons and swords, some even looked like a metal series model.

"Whatever is in there making these things is starting to modify them, I better assist the police first then see about getting in and stopping the creation of these things"

He dashed forwards delivering a solid uppercut to one of the more simple robots, watching as it's head came clean off, *these first unmodified ones are pretty weak* he thought as he delivered a right hook to another, sending it's sparking body to the ground *sad actually, I hoping for more of a challenge*, suddenly he saw a burst of movement out of the corner of his eye "what the-" he barely had time to block the incoming punch, he look up to find himself facing a metal echidna with black color scheme and heavy rocket fists.

"Well, guess I spoke to soon eh?" He sniffed, brushing his nose as he took a boxing stance "bring it on bucket head", *I just hope help arrives soon* he thought as started trading blows *because I don't think I can handle all of these guys*

Arriving at the factory, Caen stopped, observing the situation. More robots were pouring out of the factory, some with very clear modifications made to them. Energy cannons, blades, plasma rays. All of it powerful, and all of it extremely dangerous. The hedgehog knew he would have to be a little more careful in this situation.

Among the scattered police officers, all using relatively weak firearms, compared to the military-grade weaponry of the robots, was an echidna. He took a more, for lack of a better term, hands-on approach to combat, bits of machinery flying everywhere. Soon, though, he was struck by one other robot, looking much like an echidna, itself. It was utilising some form of rocket-propelled fists. 

Caen shook his head, reaching to his sides and drawing the blades sheathed by them. He launched himself forwards, taking out a few of the unmodified pawns as he made his way to the echidna. Just as the robotic echidna threw another punch, Caen jumped in front of Arc, using one blade to deflect the blow. 

"Run, now." Caen ordered, turning his head slightly to look behind himself.

As Arc traded blows he suddenly heard running foot steps, the bot took advantage of the distraction launching a fist right at him...

«CLANG!»

There was the sound of metal on metal as something flew between the bots fist and Arc's head, he quickly turned to look at the newcomer. He was a red hedgehog wearing a long blue coat, he was also using a pair of sword which Arc noticed he had used to block the punch. The hedgehog turned slightly towards Arc, "Run, now" suddenly the bot took a another swing directly at the hedgehog.

"Oh no you don't" Arc quickly sidestepped around the hedgehog delivering a concussion punch, sending the bot careening into several other bots behind it, Arc turned to the red hedgehog, "sorry, but I'm not going anywhere, if you wanna help then help take out some of these bolts for brains", Arc then turned to face the approaching group of robots.

Just after Caen had spoken, the robot stood before him attacked without warning. The hedgehog did not react fast enough and, were it not for Arc sidestepping around him and delivering a swift, powerful punch to the metallic monstrosity, he probably would have been seriously hurt, if not worse. 

He shook his head "well, I can't say that I wouldn't appreciate the help," he muttered, stepping forwards and rolling his shoulders, jumping a little to loosen his legs. "Okay, then. Look alive, because there is a lot of them." Caen stated, scanning around himself. He looked towards the entrance to the factory "we need to make it towards the entrance, before the modifications get any more powerful. If we can shut down whatever is manufacturing these robots, then we can focus on the culprit."

Arc gave a nod to the red hedgehog, dashing forwards quickly putting some of the lesser ones out of commission with solid body blows and punches, "let me clear a path, after I do you run ahead and I'll cover us", Arc tensed up his arm "concussion...."  before throw it forwards with incredible force "BLAST!" there was a torrent of wind and force, with that the group of bots ahead were blow to the side, "quickly before they cut us off" Arc jump to the side picking up a chunk of pavement and slamming it into the arm on a bot that was charging an arm cannon, resulting in it exploding, Arc turned and started to prep another blast.

-Whether it would be the right place at the right time or the usual wrong place at the right time, where conflict generally showed up, some one was not far behind. 

A second large scale explosion ripped through the adjacent side of the facility, hurling debris and other objects down its projected path.

From within the section of complex where the second explosion had gone off immense gun fire was heard followed by several smaller explosions.

Slowly backing out of the newly generated hole from the detonation was a armored and well armed foot mobile, could easily be mistaken for a G.U.N soldier but only one here would be able to tell the distinct difference. 

He had come into contact with a smaller team of robots who were on his case pretty hard, thankfully his always armed state never let him down. Spraying lead like he had unlimited supply of it, the masked figure quickly hit the side of his rather impressive rifle.

Ejecting his spent clip off ammo to fumble about trying to get a new one slotted in. Cause in his state to reload he was not quite paying attention to what was coming his way, a stray blow from a projectile ricocheted off of his armor spending sparks and causing him to reel back from the impact. 

Thankfully the armor stopped the incoming projectile as he would continue to battle of bots, these guys were tough, he hadn't fought something this hard before. 

One bot came flying at him, he wasted no time laying down a storm of lead upon the incoming machine, some of the rounds landed shredding some components and sending the robot jetting off in various directions before it smashed into the side of a building.

Course his luck would never hold, another robot had launched some type of unguided fire and forget missiles , while most missed him one landed upon his feet slinging the armored figure like a rag doll into some debris.-

"Oh man! That hurt! I got a really bad feeling I am gonna get screwed..." 

(Thought this would be an opportunity to introduce our antagonist)

From deep inside the factory overseeing the assembly line was another robot, but he wasn't like the rest, he was a red hedgehog bot with heavier armor and a large bladed arm cannon, more complex and obviously not man made. He walked along the line inspecting each line as he passed, his purple cape flowing behind him, "The humans technology is vastly inferior to what I had in mind, but it will do in reviving my empire" he continued until he arrived at a large control terminal with several scientists held at weapon point were working, being forced to modify and keep the assembly running. on the monitor were video feeds featuring three people, a red hedgehog followed closely by a red echidna while elsewhere a soldier spraying away and tearing through the bots "And these people are rather impressive for organics...maybe their data will be of use" he said, his purple eyes intently looking at the screen. he turned to a nearby echinda robot "Prepare the data of the red one" he said as a dark smile crossed his metal face "he will be of use", he started to leave when two large purple echidnas with large construction claws walked up, supporting a security guard between them, "Ah, another human, tell me, where are the rest of the weapons stored?" He said as he lifted his own arm cannon to the guards head "tell me and I may spare you" the guard quickly spoke "I-it's all in the vault on level-0, I swear I don't know the code", "pity...I was hoping to finally get what I needed, oh well" his gun began charging "I'm sorry but I have changed my mind on sparing you, you are no longer of use"

{BLAM!}

Nodding, Caen spoke again "of course. Once we have a clear path, I should be able to barrel through any stragglers." Just as the hedgehog finishshed his sentence, the echidna lurched forward, a torrent of air easily brushing aside the crowds of robots. That wasn't enough for him, though. He picked up a piece of the pavement and smashed it straight into a robot that had somehow stuck its ground! 

"That's... An interesting tactic," Caen said, dumbfounded by the display of strength. After  a second or two, he began to run at full pelt towards the entrance to the factory. However, more robots began to crowd in front of him, forming a barrier. "Out of my way!" He shouted, before jumping into the air. He began to float as glowing orange arrows began to surround him. He threw his arm forward "heat arrow!" He exclaimed, as the arrows took off at a blazing speed, shooting straight through rows of metallic shells, causing each one to explode. He landed just in front of the entrance, and couldn't help but smile. "That was surprisingly accurate. Well done to me," he said, before glancing back, ushering the echidna toward the entrance "hurry!"

Before he stepped inside, however, he heard an explosion, before a part of the wall across the factory floor caved in; a green marine stepping out from the dust and rubble. This caused Caen to raise an eyebrow "now isn't that a funny coincidence?" He said, watching as he began to struggle against the robotic foes. He called back to the echidna, "you, um... Whatever your name is, new prority. That man needs backup, now!" Finishing, he began to run towards Shrike, his arms outstretched, and holding his blades outwards. He prayed that he would make it in time.

-Laying among the rubble the figure would shake his head a few times to rid himself of the blurry vision from the recent concussive impact, he used his hands to make sure he was still in one piece and not missing any thing important.

He slowly began to raise himself out from the rubble, scraping away any bits of debris that were on his armor or clothing, not that he was enjoying some combat but some times he would go a little more off his rocker then usual if things were quiet for too long.

He had little time to catch his breath before 2 more robots would descend upon him, scrambling to his rifle Shrike quickly took aim only to be met with a trigger that did nothing.

Debris had entered the chamber and jammed his weapon, he tried hard to clear it, shaking it around as fragments of rubble fell out of his weapon. 

Quickly switching to the weapons underslung attached launcher he was able to pop out a frag grenade, that had a detonate on impact fuse.

It strikes the one robot blowing its lower half clean off forcing it onto the ground crawling towards him. These things were more determined to destroy then those Dark Ones.

" Why won't you just die already! you are worse then those creatures I had to fight."

-Shrike out of the corner of his eye could see two more blurred figures approaching from his left, unsure if more robots or what the case was he took aim, upon realizing one figure was his old friend Caen, seems like once more their paths crossed again.

He would raises his one arm waving at him at the same time pointing in the direction upon which another few robots were incoming from.-

"No problem red" After blasting another group of bots Arc turned towards the bots on the armored figure "just call me Arc" he smirked and loosened his arms "time to get serious" he shot forwards hitting the bot that was still standing, sweeping it's legs out from under it and grabbing it before it hit the ground he slammed it down into the pavement, burying it in it. He then turned to where the marine had pointed to see more bots coming from the side "Hey red,you got another good crowd clearer?" Arc took a fighting stance behind the armored marine "I'll let you take that that group, I gotta save strength for inside"

"Arc. Got it." Caen replied, slashing through the casing of one robot with ease, sparks flying straight from it as the light faded from its eyes, quite literally! "It's Caen, by the way," he spoke, responding to Arc's newfound nickname for the hedgehog. 

Shrike, now that he had some backup, got enough time to point off to the side, where a crowd of robots was now rushing towards the group. Arc had suggested to use a good crowd clearer, to which Caen agreed. "I'm on it," he said, rushing towards the group. He held both blades to one side, before swinging them, letting the weight of the blades spin him in circles as they were wrapped in flame "fire raid!" He called out, as numerous bots were destroyed with ease. Caen skidded to a halt, exhaling heavily. He looked behind himself, noticing a few more robots were left. With one swing of his arm, a fireball was sent careening towards them, exploding on contact. "Right, we're done here! I hope there's not too many crowds beyond this, as I don't think I could keep this up for long!" He called out to Arc and Shrike.

-With them taking care of the frontline duties for now, Shrike began to de jam his rifle, a jammed weapon was one way ticket to kick the bucket in a crisis situation. After some knocks and constant pulls on the bolt, he finally clears the weapon and brings it back into full operational condition. 

They had incoming and incoming fast, the next wave of robots were descending upon them rapidly. Course this time the one who would have the honor of dispatching the tin cans would be Caen himself.

Arc had sent him ahead to wipe the area clean of the machines via the use of a area wide attack. Surely this would be more then enough to clear the way for them to enter the complex. 

Shrike held back and let the Red Hedgehog do his thing, and in a short space of time his single attack had pretty much devastated the oncoming robots with ease. However it seemed all this power usage was finally taking a toll on his energy level. 

Shrike decided he would take front position now and use his heavy weapons to clear the way deeper into the complex.

"Good job Caen all targets destroyed in this area, I'll take point as we enter the complex got a ton of lead with their names on it....and new guy...try to keep up." 

-He responded with a joke like manner to the new guy as he rushed passed Caen patting his shoulder signaling he was taking front position. 

Shrike would put down any thing still active in their field of few, his rounds were more then capable of penetrating their armor, yet was still unaware of who was behind this outburst.-

"Heh, don't worry about me" Arc gave a smirk as busted another bot down with a right hook "Lets keep moving". As the group entered the large main doorway there was an ominous groaning noise, suddenly the large entrance behind them slammed shut with a heavy security door, with that, all the opening's outside of the building locked down, sealing the group inside, "What the crap is going on?" Arc quickly ran over to the main reception desk looking over the computer "Hey guys, we are sealed in" Arc said with a grimace "I don't  think it can be deactivated either, the whole system was fried right after it locked us in" suddenly there was a deep laugh that echoed through the complex "You have made yourselfs quite interesting to me" a large moniter lowered above the front desk, reveling a red hedgehog robot with a bladed arm cannon and purple cape "Sadly all i needed was your data, but if you so wish to face me" his eyes glowed a menacing purple "By all means, come and face your demise" with a laugh the moniter cut off, leaving just a map with a bliking red dot over the R&D and assembly department.

Soon, Shrike began to take the lead, ensuring any lone 'bots were quickly dealt with. Caen followed along behind, letting himself rest at least a little as the two dealt with the last few remaining tin cans. 

The three came to a large room, which seemed much like some type of reception area. A loud, ominous groan sounded throughout the room, seemingly making the air around the hedgehog feels cold. Before Caen could say a thing, the door behind him slammed shut. He turned around, giving it a hefty push. "Shit," he muttered to himself. He narrowed his eyes when Arc pointed out the obvious, telling them that they were sealed in. 

As a loud laugh broke through, a large monitor descended from the ceiling, giving the three a glimpse at the culprit. When this enigmatic other gave his little speech, Caen scoffed. "If I had a ring for every time I was in this type of situation..." He muttered through gritted teeth as a map flashed up on the screen. He walked a little closer, putting a finger to the screen "So, he's here, I'm guessing..."

Finally, Caen turned to the other two in the room "I'm going after him. I presume you two are, as well?"

-Shrike, being his usual - not trusting any thing- approach was extremely vigilant upon entering the large complex. The slightest of sounds could catch his direct attention before shifting to another tiny sound in another direction, all the more waving his impressive looking rifle that had a faint flash light hooked into it.

Of course as chance would have it, who ever was behind this outbreak knew they were here and with out warning closed some pretty god damn thick doors behind them, trapping them inside the current area.

Shrike wasted no time to try and look for an alternative way to get out and had even considered using high explosives to simply blow the door to kingdom come, that was if he had any left which he did not. 

His sprawling about was quickly stopped by the appearance of a figure upon a screen, he would slowly stop to look back at him, Shrike had presumed this being was the guy in charge.

The robotic leader was toying with them, issuing a challenge he knew Caen would never refuse nor would he, a chance to directly confront the issue and dissolve it through the means of extreme dispersal of ordinance and of course fire. 

Caen seemed to be already all pumped up and ready to take the fight to him, which in terms meant Shrike was feeling just the same, he wanted to put the threat down before it could get any worse. 

The armored figure walked up to where Caen was and pulled the bolt back on his rifle, making its iconic locked and loaded sound.- 

" All the way man, the only thing he is gonna get from us is one hell of a ass whooping!" 

Arc gave a smirk, bumping his fists together "You bet were kicking his tin can", Arc then turned to the desk picking up a small holo tablet, bringing up a map and marking their path to their destination, "ok, looks like we will have to take a few detours, some areas are completely collapsed" he said as he turned to the marine, "Do you think you could lead?" Arc said as he pointed down the hall "There are gonna be more groups ahead and you seem pretty stoked to -ahem- extend a warm welcome".


(Meanwhile)
A platform lowered, assembly arms retracted and the smell of fire and torch gas steaming in the air, a single red hedgehog robot stepped of the platform, with short quills, a long black coat and two incredibly dangerous looking plasma swords at his sides. "How is my little pet project?" The metal overlord asked as he watched the new robot "I-its done" replied one of the scientist "fully functioning with everything bit of data and information found on Caen flare, abilities, techniques, everything we could find." The red metal tyrant smiled "Good, when they get here have him "greet" our guests, but only caen flare, i want to see how well one can fight himself".

"I always love how eloquently you put it, Shrike!" Caen said, grinning at the green marine. He nodded in agreement with Arc's very similar statement, still smiling. 

When Arc brought up the map, he wiped the grin off of his face, returning to his more serious look, that he was often known for. "Still, it's odd that they've left every route shut except for one. It's almost like they were expecting us in the first place..." Caen said, staring down the corridor. What did this man... Or, rather, machine... Have in store for the group? That, Caen could not possibly have predicted.

-Shrike quickly looked over at the holo map displayed by Arc his indication in direction was all he needed, point him where to go and he would handle the rest.

He did have the habit of being trigger happy, some times to the point of just plain overkill in which only Caen had ever seen. However he knew what to do. 

He checks his ammo and quickly makes his way to the corridor entrance, holding up against the side, leaning his head to the side gesturing them to take cover quick. 

"Alright you two when I toss these two fragmentation grenades down the hall and they go boom I want each of you on either side of me as I push up, I'm gonna drop enough lead on those wako garbage cans that they won't even be able to recycle their metal, alright...counting on you guys to dish it out hard....stand by"

-Shrike unhooks two sphere grenades on his chest which had a little cheeky logo written on them " Have a nice day!" -He yanks the pins out and hurls them down the corridor before detonating.- 

" GO GO GO!!" 

-Shrike takes point, forget short control bursts he just went full auto, any machine caught in his storm of lead was shredded.-

"Caen! left side! New guy! right side let's hit em hard!" 

Arc's face was one of cool calm determination, he bumped his fists together and dashed forwards "Alright, TOPAZ RUSH!" He run full tilt into several bots unleashing a flurry of blows, left, right, left, right, his fists blazed as the scoop spikes on his hands dug into the bots, tearing them apart and ripping open and destroying anything they caught a hold of, easily dodging out the way of attacks, countering and weaving. "We got this, keep pushing!" Arc shouted as he continued fighting, suddenly a large blue hedgehog bot landed in front of him, taking a swing at him with large claws, Arc dodged and jumped back "hey marine, you got another grenade I could use?" Arc called back as he eyed the open intake port on the bot "i think this guy could use one".

When Shrike pressed himself against the wall, Caen quickly took cover behind a nearby desk, peeking his head over it to watch down the hallway. He nodded at Shrike's plan, staying silent while readying himself. 

Shrike threw the grenades, and shouted loudly. Immediately, Caen hopped over the desk and took the green marine's left side, running into the last few flames shoulder-first. Embers trailed along behind him as he thrusted both blades into one robot almost immediately, slashing straight through, discontinuing the worthless consumer model in an instant. He reeled back, planting a boot straight into one robotic torso, both kicking it back and using it as a springboard to land onto another wall. He sprang forward, slashing straight through three robots. 

He exhaled sharply and loudly. He appeared to be conserving his powers, considering he was now going all-out with his melee capabilities. The trail of embers still following him, however, told that he was frankly pumped by the situation, even though he wasn't smiling.

-Shrike discharged burst after burst of lethal firepower, not only destroying those before him but as well eliminating some pent up aggression, as the THV rounds ripped, blew apart and shattered the machines before them.

despite them being high tech, some times just good old fashion fire power was all you needed to get the job done...oh and of course the assistance of two allies. 

Speaking of allies as the trio pushed down the corridor dispensing of robotic enemies the new guy ARC had been battling a robot of his own and quickly asked Shrike for a spare grenade.

Fortunately Shrike had just one left, he pulled the sphere explosive from his webbing and chucked it as best he could towards Arc.-

"Last grenade make it count!" 

-Shrike was careful enough not to stray to far from his line of fire he did not after all want to pump Caen full of bullets and explosives, instead he let him go forth and cut down the robots at will as he quickly let his weapon cool down.

The excessive firing had caused the barrel to heat up, any further firing could melt and destroy the gun. However that didn't mean he was not in on the fight he was still issuing minor commands.-

"Arc finish with that hostile and push up to cover Caen as he advances...Blast those robo bastards back too the factory!" 

-This is when Shrike began to demonstrate an ability Caen had never seen before, only in times of panic would he act this way but it seemed Shrike was reacting extremely fast, his movements were almost difficult to see, as if the eye could not keep up with his movement, Shrike had entered his hyper reflex stage, his so called...quirk in this state Shrikes reflexes were heighten to the point where to him the world was moving slower around him while he felt he was moving at usual speed, this allowed him to evade incoming attacks waiting for the gun to cool off. Some of his movements appeared blurry.-

Arc caught the grenade with easy, pulling the pin with his mouth he dashed forwards still holding the release catch, "Ok metal head, lets dance" said as he dodged a swipe from the bot, it took another swing only to have its arm caught and twisted, Arc then slammed the live grenade into the open port on the bots front and begin counting down to detonation "5...", right hook "4..." left body blow "3..." leg sweep "2..." grabbing the back of the head he slammed the bot face first into the wall closest to him "1...lights out" Arc jumped back as there was a deep rumble in the bots chest engine, the bot exploded into nothing but scrap save its badly damaged head which Arc caught as it flew through the air "To be, or not to be" he said in a mocking tone with a playfully smile as he looked over to the others, then dropping the head he proceeded to crush it. He moved forwards to caen's position, getting ready to give cover, he was moving visibly slower now as fatigue was starting to settle in, he quickly glanced at the map "ok, if we can get down this way here, we should be able to the R&D section first" he said as he pointed past the remaining robot forces.

Caen was now a blur, himself, taking down numerous robots with quick swipes of his blade, before jumping to the next. Embers continued to flow from him, with increasing intensity and frequency. This was a side-effect of the adrenaline rush that the fighting had given him, although it works as a good distraction, nonetheless. 

With one final hop, Caen pierced through the last robot, practically skewering it's head on the blade of his sword. With a swift swing, it flew off and hit a wall. He turned back to the group "I believe this line is 'Alas, my poor Yorick. I knew him well,'" he said, grinning.

"Right. Research and Development," he replied, nodding "of course he would be there! How else could he produce so many designs so quickly?"
