Operation Alpha Empty Operation Alpha

Post by C.S.O. Wed May 18, 2016 4:54 pm

It was a quiet and uneventful day in one of the larger cities within the United Federation’s borders, at least in as much as that nothing unexpected had occurred, allowing people to go about their business, fulfilling their responsibilities or taking part in leisure activities as time allowed. It was early in the afternoon when something happened that appeared as though it was going to change that.

A small metal capsule cut across the sky, steadily losing altitude, and initially going unnoticed by the populace of the city. Given the size of the object was a little less than that of the average car that result was to be expected. Eventually, some people did take note as this object fell. Many wondered what it was and where it was heading as it flew overhead. Far fewer realized it was dropping fast. The capsule sailed between some of the larger buildings in the heart of the city, but ultimately left them untouched. Had anyone been able to project the arc it was falling on, they would have realized that the capsule was going to fall just outside the boundary of the city. Regardless, word began to spread about the falling object, meaning that wherever it was going to end up, people were likely going to head there to see what it was.

The capsule crashed a few minutes walking distance outside of the city. The angle it fell at while it made its final approach in was rather steep, so one end of the capsule, about one quarter of the entire length, was buried into the ground with the rest of it protruding out at an angle to the ground.

While the dust from the landing was still settling, noise emerged from the capsule, but only those within about fifteen metres would have heard it, unless they had very good hearing. It was the sounds of mechanisms inside the capsule activating. Just a short time later, the panels around the central portion of the capsule dropped to the ground, apparently no longer anchored to the frame. Underneath this plating there was a metal cage wrapped around a smooth metal cylinder in the heart of the capsule. The sound of more mechanisms at work could be heard and then the cage came apart much like the outer shell had. The cylinder in the center took a few moments to rotate and lock into a specific position. Then the side of the cylinder now facing upward parted and slid open allowing a figure to stand and climb out.

The figure that emerged was clearly a canine with grey fur, from what portions of their fur could be seen, but this individual was also clad in some form of metal armour as well. The armour covered their upper and lower body, except for their tail and in two separate pieces. Their thighs and shins were similarly protected as were their upper arms and forearms. The armour itself was a plain metallic colour, smoothed all over, having no corners or edges. This figure also had some sort of garment on underneath the armour that was visible at the joints where the armour didn’t cover it. Around their waist, sitting between the armour covering their upper and lower body, was an equipment belt with a pair of holstered guns, what looked like a pair of batons with hand guards, and several pouches. Finally, the figure wore a helmet as well, with their ears sticking out from the top, their muzzle uncovered and a visor across their eyes.

The figure moves slowly away from the capsule observing their surroundings then looking towards the city.

“Alpha unit is now active… beginning operation.” the figure says, their voice indicating that they are a male as the contours of the armour don’t give that away.

With that, he starts making his way towards the city, leaving what was left of the capsule behind him.

(OOC: Okay, I got a new rp with a new character to take on a test run. Obviously this rp is open to all. I'm planning on making it a bit different than my other rp's I've had here. We'll see how that pans out.

My standard rules are going to be in place:
1) Adhere to the post order.
2) You will have about 24 hours to post once your turn comes around. I'll give some leeway on that, unless I see you online and not posting when it's your turn. If you don't post in a reasonable time, you will be skipped for that round.
3) If you have been skipped, you can reenter the rp whenever you wish. You don't have to reenter the rp at the same spot in the posting order if you don't want to.
4) If you know in advance that you're not going to be able to post for some reason, please let me know and we'll hold the rp for you. Otherwise, you'll be skipped.

Other than that, feel free to have at it. I'll probably give a day or two for people to sign up before I post again.)

Operation Alpha Empty Re: Operation Alpha

Post by The Red Blur Wed May 18, 2016 5:20 pm

A red hedgehog made a contented yawn as he slumped back into his seat "man, I haven't eaten that good in a while. Especially with that... Catering..." The hedgehog winced, sitting back up. He had just finished an early lunch of a sandwich of some description. He had forgotten what the contents he had ordered were, all he knew was that the contents tasted much better than the cooking provided for free for the staff. He raised his hand, beckoning a waitress, where he proceeded to pay for the meal, leaving a adequate tip for the decent service "I gotta come here more often..." He muttered, putting on a long navy blue coat. He took out a pair of black gloves from the pocket and put them on, looking through a window. He noticed a large, metallic object falling through the sky.

"The hell's that?" The hedgehog asked to noone in particular, picking up the weapons he had propped up against a wall underneath the table, and attaching them to his sides. From the direction and rough trajectory the object was travelling, the hedgehog guessed that the object was either going to land in the town, or not too far from it. "Interesting... Looks like I'm gonna have to get moving." He spoke to himself, he didn't want a crowd to gather, as the potential danger of this object was far too great.

The hedgehog exited the café, building into a small jog, cursing under his breath as he saw the sheer amount of people who had already noticed the object getting closer to the ground. From the distance left, the hedgehog had a certain area outside the city where this object would have to land. "Alright. Gotta go into double time." He said, picking up the pace, and using some handrails to push himself along a slight bit quicker, heading out of a gate outside of town.

- Not that far away from the crash sight, the infamous heavily armored figure took interest in the situation unfolding, this masked and hidden identity being had a feeling that what ever had just crashed may have been Dark one origin, but he had his doubts as they did not emanate from the sky, switching towards scanning the suits F-80 helmet picks up the location of this being. The helmets AI gives Shrike a reading of the current situation.-

" Unknown entity location locked and confirmed. Waypoint set, origin of the entity is unknown at this point proceed with caution."

-Shrike checks his gear, secures his selected weapon which happened to he the H.A.R.D rifle, large two handed weapon that was dangerous in every respect. Of course he had plenty of other gear, Should be being prove to be hostile, If so be Shrike was more then ready to face it, using the speed of the HAVOC suit Shrike was soon on the move heading towards the location of the crash sight. His faded green armor glancing the sun light as the armored figure closed in on his position.-

Operation Alpha Empty Re: Operation Alpha

Post by Storm Wave Wed May 18, 2016 9:32 pm

The smell of solder and ozone filled the air amidst the swaying rhythm of the Electroswing music pulsing out of every bluetooth device in the area around Storm's loft. Seated in the middle of a circle painted with a mixture of printer ink, powdered graphite, and quartz sand, he performed his strange ritual. Components floated aloft conduits of red energy, connected one-to-another by the ethereal strands of arcane circuitry. One by one, they were drawn to the mechanical construct resting in front of the fox. With precision and care, they found their proper place among the amalgam and were greeted by small screws and solder binding them into place.

Even among his meditative state, the fox couldn't help but let a toothy, canid smile escape. Weeks spent gathering parts and components were finally about to pay off. No more having to walk or catch a taxi around town. What had begun as a a few spare Extreme Gear parts and some... less-than-legitimately procured parts from GUN's broken-down Beetle drones, was shaping up into a pretty good hovebike. And while not entirely finished, the bike was a few more steps away from being functional enough to ride. The fox licked his lips in anticipation and concentrated, channeling more mental concentration and mana into the circle.

Careful. Don't take it too fast. he thought to his shaking nerves. With a wave of his hand, he dropped the volume of his music down. A very important chip, held on a veritable spiderweb of arcana slowly lowered into place. This was a very important component for the autobalancer, and it had to be placed in such a way that it didn't make contact with the metallic sides of the frame, lest it shorted itself out. The fox's eyes glossed over, unblinking. He had become the chip itself, guiding it in by instinct and feel, rather than by sight. It drew closer to its place amidst more chips like itself, carefully aligning itself flush with the array and carefully squeezing inside, careful not to catch on its brethren.

Even the explosive boom of a high-speed object passing through the city skyline barely broke the fox's trance, though for a moment, he knotted his brow in frustration at the distraction. The chip slid into place, and was greeted by the scent of solder at it's melting point. Finally. It was done. Storm wiped his head and smiled as the magic circle faded. The prototype of his scratch-built hoverbike was complete.

Now what the hell was that noise? He stepped over to the blinds and peered out the window into the city. His eyes caught a vapor trail cutting through Station Square leading to a large dust plume in the distance. His expression soured. Memories. Distant memories so faded that he wondered if he had even truly experienced them, found their way to the surface. He sighed. All the therapy in the world couldn't bury the previous life he had lived.

But then, with an indignant huff, a mischievous smile crossed the fox's face. If this truly was what he thought it was, it could be a big opportunity. Maybe it was an entry pod, or a piece of space junk, or some other something from somewhere else. Whatever the case may be, it probably had some pretty valuable technological components, and it was probably better to get to them before the military did. The fox turned back to his hoverbike, being sure to grab his tool kit and strapped it to the seat behind him, before pulling the bike by the handlebars out his door and into the apartment complex's freight elevator.

Operation Alpha Empty Re: Operation Alpha

Post by C.S.O. Fri May 20, 2016 8:38 pm

( OOC: Alright gonna get this going. For reference, the post order is currently: CSO, Red Blur, Shrike, Storm Wave. )

The wolf made his way into the outskirts of the city in short order, making his way in before people curious about his capsule could make their way out to the crash site. He wasn't concerned about leaving the capsule unattended. It wasn't his responsibility now that he was loose. Instead, he focuses on the route ahead of him, and the increasing activity of people headed his way, presumably heading to his capsule.

Many people stop where they are and stare at him as he approaches. Normally, he wouldn't be described at intimidating, but being dressing in what would be viewed as combat armour with some visible weaponry was enough to give most people pause. Many of these spectators now began to withdraw from him, others simply got out of his way, others began to take pictures. He paid little attention to most of them.

He'd already studied these people he was approaching through his visor which was frequently updating with tactical data about his surroundings. A threat assessment routine was already running, sifting through information being gathered from his helmet's scanning systems.

Despite that, the wolf remains at attention as he goes. Knowing that sooner than later, the staring bystanders would be replaced by those who would demand his compliance and then resort to force. Then... his work would truly begin.

Caen continued running along the path, eventually coming to the object that had fallen from the sky. He stopped, and stared at it for a few moments. He shook his head, and crept towards it, trying to ascertain what it was. He noticed that around the object, there seemed to be metal walls, and there was a small compartment in the middle- just about big enough for your average Mobian to fit. He knocked the back of his hand on the top, and the familiar clank of metal rang in his ears. "Is this a... Spaceship?" Caen thought aloud. He then turned back towards the city, realising his mistake, a panicked expression across his face "shit. If this was holding someone... Or something... It must be in the city already!"

Caen sprinted back towards the gate, muttering a cacophony of curse words under his breath.

- Seems like Caen beat him before he could get there before the rest could, the armored figure soon came upon the crash site, armed to the teeth and being very careful of approaching the zone, for all he knew this was more then likely a hostile of some origin, cause that seemed to be the norm these days. Holding his versatile, H.A.R.D rifle he moves in closer and closer, picking up a thermal reading in close proximity to him, moving closer and closer he spots a familiar face.

It was Caen these two seem to run into each other often, so Shrike let his guard down a bit knowing he was not the only one here.-

" Well well well, looks like we cross paths yet again Caen...I see you also discovered this.. strange crash site ?....First looks impression, this thing is clearly not of Dark one origin....but..where did it come from. Actually the more important question is....This pod brought something or some one...and now who ever or what ever it is, is now gone. I have a bad feeling about this Caen."

Operation Alpha Empty Re: Operation Alpha

Post by Storm Wave Sat May 21, 2016 6:37 pm

Storm, on the other hand, had fallen short of his objective and wound up somewhere else. He idled the hoverbike in the streets behind a crowd of aghast onlookers as the metal-clad figure walked into the city. The fox immediately marked a tactical belt with firearms and other essential gear. This visitor was prepared to fight, but so far, hadn't made any particularly aggressive moves. Which worked for Storm. This was the sort of life he was trying to walk away from. He throttled the hoverbike and swerved into a nearby alleyway and out of what would surely be the hot-zone in a few minutes once the police or the military arrived. Besides, he had other things to take care of.

Storm reached into the tool bag and pulled out a hooded sweatshirt that he had grabbed on the way out and pulled it over his head. He drew the hood up to cover his face, before slipping on a pair of sunglasses to cover his eyes. Sure, he was new in town, but it was better not to be recognized. Confident that his identity was safe enough, he kicked up the hoverbike's turbines and blazed through the alley and onto the adjacent street.

The wolf continues following the street he'd taken from the outskirts of town, making his way through one neighbourhood there and into another one. Once the street veered off in a direction that wasn't heading in the general direction of the city's core, the wolf abandoned the street and actually started traveling across residential properties.

He'd be walking between houses, across yards, pushing through hedges, climbing over fences and walls. Given his attire, he seemed to have little to no difficulty scaling over any obstructions in his path. Knowledgeable observers would note that he was using parkour to get around as well. He began drawing a lot of attention from the residents of these houses, who took exception with his trespassing, but none of them had the nerve to do more than yell at him. Several of them then ran off to call the police to report the incidents.

By the time the wolf had crossed the third neighbourhood in his way, the sound of approaching sirens could be. They were still some distance away though. It would likely be several minutes before they reached him.

Post by The Red Blur Sun May 22, 2016 9:09 pm

Caen continued running through the town gate, noticing a familiar green-armoured figure behind him. "Shrike. Of course he'd be here." He spoke, before chuckling. When he reached the town, he asked several passers-by if they had seen anything suspicious or unusual in town, and any that answered in the affirmative pointed in the general direction of a figure that had walked into the town. Apparently he was visibly armed, which worried Caen even more "who would he be here to attack?... I don't really wanna find out."

Caen headed into the residential area, and noticed one armoured figure jumping over the fences of houses, and stomping through their gardens. How rude. He watched as the figure trampled flower beds and lawns alike. He hid behind one fence, observing the unknown Mobian from across the street. The citizens were correct, he was carrying some weaponry, although Caen couldn't quite make out what these weapons were. He crept along the fence to continue his observations without him noticing, however, stealth was not his strong suit, and his ineptness was noticeable when he tripped over a tree's roots and fell, with an audible thud "oh, bollocks." Caen muttered under his breath.

Operation Alpha Empty Re: Operation Alpha

Post by Shrike Marine Sun May 22, 2016 9:46 pm

- Shrike was on the move yet again, this time following the yells of those who the wolf crossed paths near by, Shrikes mission at this stage was fairly straight forward and simple, find the target, assess the threat nature and if the target was deemed a threat he was going to eliminate it quickly, Shrike headed in the other direction from Caen to cover more ground, but always remaining in close proximity so if he called for his help he could be close enough to respond in time, the residence look rather intimidated by the armored figure, believing he could of be related to the wolf armored, as natural they yelled at saying " There is another one!"

Shrike ignored the yells and continued his search, his HUD on his helmet allowed him to track the target more efficiently, however lacked depth of perception, not taking into account obstacles between him and the figure, Shrike moved in well armed as well, if this guy put up a fight Shrike would return the favor, He was now no more then 600 meters from the wolf and closing fast. Shrike was gaining onto him a lot quicker then anticipated.-

Operation Alpha Empty Re: Operation Alpha

Post by Storm Wave Mon May 23, 2016 6:29 am

The commotion in the city had worked to the fox's advantage. The citizenry and the authorities were drawn to who or whatever had transgressed into the city. The figure's entry vehicle was left mostly uncontested.

Showtime. Storm stowed his hoverbike in the bushes and grabbed the heavy 'requisitioning' kit. He carefully, but casually approached the pod, trying to attract as little prying eyes as possible. He stepped over the shed petals of the drop pod's armor. His grin widened. The materials were probably military grade, and would catch a decent price in the... ah... aftermarket. But the biggest payoffs were in the main body of the pod itself. The fox took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and placed both palms on the body of the capsule. Arcane light spread from the contact points, wrapping through and permeating the foreign entry vehicle. Storm could just begin to feel the workings of the machine. Yeah... there was some juicy tech in there. Probably an avionics computer, some high-grade global positioning systems, some communications arrays, even some precision servos and motors to help steer the craft. Storm snickered at the thought as stray flecks of mana flickered past.

But if he really wanted to get in there with some efficiency, he'd have to do a deeper dive. He reached into his bag and pulled out a flask containing his special brew of ink and a small, aerosol-powered airbrush.

♩ "I heat up, I can't cool down,
You got me spinning round and round."

The fox hummed aloud as he carefully began rendering an circle on one of the smoother faces of the entry pod.

"Round and round, Round it goes
Where it stops, nobody knows"

The circle began to grow more and more elaborate with each pass, with more symbols added to its edges, and more precise geometric cuts, crosses and radii added to its array.

"Every time you call my name
I heat up like a burning flame.
Burning flame, full of desire
Kiss me baby, let the fire get higher!"

His work complete, the fox took a seat on the ground in front of the arcane circle he'd painted on the capsule's face. He bowed, almost reverently as he began his internal incantation. The circle glowed intensely, the superconductive graphite channeling the arcane electricity, and the quartz sand binding as both a piezoelectric oscillator, and a scrying medium. The pod's form became engulfed in the precise, twisting lattice of magic as the grinning fox peered deeper inside, uncovering the pod's mysteries.

"Abra Abracadabra
I wanna reach out and grab ya..."

((C.S.O, Storm is now interfacing with the components of the pod. I'll leave it to you to figure out whether or not he finds anything interesting, since this is an item relating to your character. If he finds anything that may advance the plot of the RP, please let me know, either in a PM or OOC message here in the RP.))

Operation Alpha Empty Re: Operation Alpha

Post by C.S.O. Mon May 23, 2016 4:18 pm

Now with the hedgehog and the armoured figure in pursuit of the wolf, some new details appear on the interior of the wolf's visor. He takes note of this new information regarding a pair of individuals closing on his position from behind him.

He considers his possibilities as he makes his way off of another residential property and comes to a stop in the middle of an unoccupied street. He turns and glances back the way he'd come, noting where the approaching signals were. He then reaches into one of the pouches on his belt and withdraws a small metal sphere, a little bigger than the large shooter marbles. He looks it over for a few moments, then moves one finger over an unmarked control surface. A red light immediately begins blinking on it.

The wolf carefully sets the object down on the road, with the light facing upward. He pauses for another moment, listening to the sound of the still approaching sirens. The nearest was only about a block away. He then he turns away and resumes moving towards the core of the city, now at a quicker pace, looking to get some distance.

Meanwhile, back at the pod, as the fox begins to examine the pod, he's likely unaware that he has now come under observation as well. Of course there is nothing in the area to make him aware of such a fact, as it is being conducted from such a large distance. But it is thorough enough to take note of everything he's doing.

As the fox begins to peer deeper into the workings of the pod, he was in for something of a surprise. The capsule itself seems to be nothing more than a metal shell.

No computer. No support unit. No maneuvering systems. No electronics. For all intents and purposes, he was looking at a hunk of metal.

Further investigation of the capsule would reveal some padding on the bottom of the central cylinder for the occupant and straps to hold them in place. There were several manual release handles in the cylinder that were used to set the occupant free upon touchdown. The only other thing of note was that there was an apparently unmarked compartment in the buried portion of the capsule. It was still sealed, so it was possible that there was something inside.

All of this together led to more questions than answers frankly. It was obvious this capsule was intended for a strictly one way trip, but any details about its origin or creator were likely to remain unknown.

Caen watched as Shrike ran past him, after the suspicious newcomer, who was picking up the pace himself. He got up and brushed himself off "stealth isn't really Shrike's strong suit either, is it?" He chuckled "guess there's nothing for it."

Caen began running, after the two armoured figures. He soon caught up with Shrike, and was running beside him "you're never much for subtlety, are you?" Caen asked Shrike, his eyes locked firmly ahead "wait... What's that?" Caen said, as he noticed the potential foe ahead was holding something. It was metallic, and no bigger than a decent gobstopper. What worried Caen more was that it was flashing. "Shit, is that a bomb?"

- Caen was indeed right, Shrike never bothered bout stealth in pretty much any situation, from his experience and training it was hit hard and fast. Hearing his voice knowing he was no on par with him Shrike turned his head towards Caen.-

" Subtlety....what is that ? Ha..no I know what you saying and nope, for me is go in hard and fast, strike before they do, however I got a feeling who ever this is, chances are it's not gonna be peaceful I hope you got your powers ready...rather be safe then sorry....That orb..hmm..I would not trust it..I suggest you dispose of it quickly...if you would like to do the honors in destroying it...we have to keep moving, the more time we mess around the more distance we put between us and him...no telling what it's objective is."

Operation Alpha Empty Re: Operation Alpha

Post by Storm Wave Mon May 23, 2016 6:06 pm

The fox's brow was knotted with confusion as the mysteries of the pod grew deeper. No technological components were in the pod at all. It was as though the workings of the pod were all done the dumb hard way: manually. That, or wherever the pod had originated from had a flawless guidance system, and everything was handled remotely. But if so, where was all the communication and radio equipment?

There was a sealed portion at the bottom of the pod that would require further investigation. A surface delve hadn't revealed its contents. It would have to be opened, a premise which Storm wasn't too keen on. Perhaps it was some sort of fail safe or anti-tampering device. But that was a matter for later. For now, the fox's main priority was figuring out how this big, dumb hunk of metal had functioned so well without any sort of internal systems.

"I smell bullshit." he muttered to himself. He exhaled a bit in exasperation as he stood up. Another thought crossed his mind. What if they were using some sort of magic to control the pod? He hissed a bit through his teeth as he plopped down on the ground. Detecting Magic was another long and drawn out process that would take some energy, but it was better to be safe than transformed into a frog. He heaved another annoyed sigh and went in for a second dive, this time, rather than looking at components, trying to sense if there was some sort of witchcraft or sorcery added to the pod. He dug in once more, probing for the pod's secrets.

((Same story again, Mr. GM sir. Does Storm Detect anything magical?))

The wolf uses the brief delay of the hedgehog and armoured figure to increase the distance between them and himself. He crosses another street, catching sight of a police cruiser heading his way. He pays it no mind even though they are more than likely going to radio in the sighting and the police forces will try to draw their net in around him.

While the hedgehog and the armoured figure converse, the object ahead of them continues to blink at a steady rate. Further on down the street, another police car is making its way towards the pair and the object ahead of it.

Back at the capsule the fox begins his second examination of it, and much like the first attempt there is no discovery to be made. There's no apparent magical energy within or emanating from it. For all intents it was just an inert pile of materials.

I do forget that not everyone is waiting for a conversation to finish." Caen said, once again picking up speed. Due to being a hedgehog, he is ever so slightly faster than the armoured figure. If this was just a straight chase, it was inevitable that Caen would win, however, Caen doubted it would be quite so simple. He notices that the blinking of the device on the ground grew brighter, and blinked faster. There was no doubt in his mind that this was a bomb. He held his arm outwards as he ran, flames beginning to wrap around it. "Shrike, you go after him. If this thing's a bomb, it's gonna blow soon. I'll try to contain it."

( OOC: Need to interrupt here. Red Blur, the small spherical device isn't being carried by the wolf. He set it down on the ground two posts ago. )

Operation Alpha Empty Re: Operation Alpha

Post by Shrike Marine Mon May 23, 2016 8:17 pm

" Roger that..if you can dispose of that thing..oh..and uhh to help you find me quicker, here take this."

-Shrike handed him a small device that could be attached to the wrist, the device was fairly straight, it was a simple two way communication device to allow him to know what is going on, with that Shrike continued his chase, going over and across any thing in his path, He had to catch up, He still could faintly tracked the targets movements, Using the exo capability of the suit gave Shrike enhanced speed, he was determined to locate this unknown being and stop him before he could attempt any thing, It wouldn't be long till he was only a short distance from the being, however there was still not visual sight of him.-

" Caen come in over...I am very close now to the targets location....still not exactly sure where he is...but I got a feeling I am about to find out...once you taken care of the device..haul your ass here on the double...Shrike out."

Operation Alpha Empty Re: Operation Alpha

Post by Storm Wave Mon May 23, 2016 8:49 pm

Storm huffed and ran his fingers over the hood of his sweatshirt in exasperation. This whole venture was becoming a bust quickly. At this rate, the only thing this pod was good for now was scrap, or modern art. The fox's ears drooped under his hood as he stared at the jutting capsule's form mocking him silently from its entrenchment. Storm's face twisted into a long, defeated smirk as he shook his head.

"Oh well! Scrap it is!" He cracked his knuckles and prepared to start disassembling the remains of the capsule into easy-to-stow pieces.

What's in the box, Storm?~ A voice probed from the back of the fox's mind. ~Yeeeaaaah. What's in the box? He paused for a moment, yielding to its temptations. That's right. There was still one more thing to check before taking this thing apart piece by piece. He had felt it during his initial delve. A small compartment at the bottom of the pod embedded in the dirt potentially hid something. His mind raced at the possibilities. Was it a trap? Or was it some sort of black box in case the pod failed? Perhaps a recovery package for whenever the pod's original occupant had to egress the mission area? His expression went blank as too many unknowns cropped up. Maybe... He leaned up against the pod, placing both hands in direct contact with its cool, metal surface. The delving circle he'd painted earlier still glowed as he tried to peer into the compartment. He delved for a latch or some sort of release mechanism, trying to feel if it was tripwired or booby trapped in any way as his curiosity began to overtake him. One way or another, he was going to get something from this slag heap...

( OOC: Stuff like that happens Red Blur. No worries.
And sure you can join Shade. Jump in whenever you're ready. )

As the small sphere was wrapped in flames, the police car comes to a halt. One of the officers inside reported in that a large fire had broken out. The other officer got out of the car, moving to keep the car between himself and the fire as he surveyed the area, looking for the source of the fire.

Inside the flames, the sphere began to heat up and the metal slowly started to expand as a result.

The wolf kept trying to stay ahead of the armoured figure chasing him, but it became apparent that he wasn't going to stay ahead of him. He began considering options for how to deal with this.

Before he could come up with a solution, he ran out onto another small street. A quick glance up and down the street let him spot an approaching police cruiser. The wolf turns away from it and begins running from it. The cruiser's siren sounded off briefly and it began to pursue him.

The fox began to examine the capsule in depth once again and he was able to determine that there was something within the sealed compartment in the capsule. His examination wasn't able to find any sort of release mechanism for it though. It appeared to have been something built in that could only be accessed by the compartment being breached by external force or through disassembly. The item it contained was not technological but it wasn't likely the fox could determine anything else about it at the moment.

Caen wrapped the spherical object in flames, in an attempt to contain the explosion, if it genuinely was a bomb. He spoke into the communicator "I'm not so sure what this thing is. The heating of the metal case should've set it off, by now, and then I could contain that pretty easily, but this device... The likelihood of it being a bomb isn't as high, anymore."
Caen stared at the device, trying to ascertain what exactly it is. It certainly wasn't anything he'd seen before, but there were some familiar characteristics

((your choice whether or not Caen figures out what it is, CSO))

"a'ight. I need to turn up the heat, don't I?"
