In the Middle of Summer

"Uh, yes!" Reena grinned. "Crazy is what makes life fun sometimes!" She gave his paw a little shake. "And even better if I can get it on film!"

Wolf closes his eyes and shakes his head a little.

"You say that now..." he says.

"Of course! Why, do you think I'd be singin' a different tune there in the moment?" Reena asked.

"Bad things tend to be worse than you are prepared for when they happen." he replies, "Hopefully you won't have to deal with that though."

"Ohhh, you're talkin' about bad crazy," Reena said, "Pffft, well maybe that would suck, but it's not a worrying enough thought to make me not wanna go at all." The dog shrugged her shoulders. "If I didn't do things because I was always worried about what might go wrong, I'd never leave home, probably!"

Wolf considers that quietly.

"I guess you have a point with that." he says.

"Of course I do," Reena agreed, "You're not the first person to worry about bad things happening to me. I got a worry-wart mother too. But I mean, I take precautions and it's worked so far so I feel like I'm fine as long as I stick to it, right?"

"What have you been trying to avoid?" he asks curiously.

"Oh, nothin' specific," Reena replied with a wave of her paw, "Just general trouble and riffraff. Getting lost in places I don't need to be gettin' lost in or gettin' robbed. Stuff like that."

"Ah I see." Wolf replies, "Guess that works out pretty well for you then."

"So far so good!" Reena agreed, "I prefer makin' my own trouble anyway."

Some form of music up ahead seemed to catch the attention of her ears and she peered that way curiously. It was still a good ways off, but it appeared to maybe be an area with some people dancing. This realization seemed to make the Klee Kai's tail start to wag a little. Speaking of making her own trouble...

"So I've noticed." Wolf replies as he watches her.

He notices the music as well, but he didn't realize what significance it had.

"Change of subject!" the Klee Kai announced, "How much should I bet you haven't been on a lotta dates in your life?"

She swung her paw that was holding onto his a little as she asked her question.

Wolf looks over at her, not paying much attention to their swinging paws.

"Dates?" Wolf asks, tilting his head slightly, "Aren't those how you tell what day it is?"

"And that totally answers my question, too," Reena giggled out, "That is one version of the word, but also when you go on a date with somebody, it's when you go out with somebody special to you to have a good time together."

"Oh... What does 'going out' entail?" Wolf asks, looking at Reena as he waits for her reply.

"Well," Reena started off, "the most typical dates involve stuff like going out to eat and maybe seeing a movie or going somewhere fun or interesting like a museum. But there's not like any strict rules for it either so you really do just about anything so long as it involves spending time with that somebody."
The dog glanced up ahead of them briefly again. "Usually people who are in a relationship go on dates together, just to kinda get to know each other better and get out for a bit."

"Huh... can't say I've ever done anything like that." he replies, "So... why did you bring it up?"

"Oh, just gauging how likely it is that you'd know how to dance," Reena replied mischievously. She briefly considered reaching back to still her wagging tail, but didn't do so just yet.

"At the moment, it seems preeeetty unlikely, though," the dog added in.

"That would be true." he replies, "I've seen very little dancing and it seems very complicated."

"Some of it is," Reena agreed, "But some of it's not a lot more than just bouncing and spinning around too."

They were drawing closer to the source of the music and Reena could actually see some people dancing in a small area. They were few in number, likely since it had just been raining earlier.
The Klee Kai gave no indication of actually joining them, however, even if she was watching curiously.

"Still seems confusing. What's the purpose of it?" he asks.

He looks ahead to the area the music was coming from and people were dancing, as Reena seemed to be leading them in that direction.

"Fun, of course!" Reena gave him a nudge with her arm.
"I mean, okay, some people do it as a profession, but when you see people just dancing out in public together, it's usually just to have a good time."

"Oh... okay." Wolf replies, glancing back at her after her nudge.

Reena continued to lead them along the boardwalk, drawing closer to the small number of dancers there. She was slowing down a bit once they reached the area, watching their movements and listening to the music. There didn't appear to be any professionals here, merely civilians looking to have a good time.

The Klee Kai tightened her hold on Wolf's paw and she gave him a tug along behind her as she started off into the squared off area. A giggle rose from the canine and she urged, "C'mon, Wolf!"
