Liberte Libertas Libertum

Post by lady-tragedy on Thu Apr 23, 2015 8:12 am

It was late at night in central city, around 4am in the morning. This meant that most of the streets were deserted. Save for the occasional homeless person or drunk that staid in the bar for too long. But most people had gone to bed by now. One person who did not fit either of the two afformentioned groups stood just outside of the beam of light cast by the streetlight. The person in question was a feline, albeit a rather odd looking one. Her fur and hair were different shades of orange, the lighter oranges coloring her muzzle an what of her belly that was exposed. Her tail was large and bushy with a  light zigzag in it and her ears where like that of a linx, but larger. To top it off she wore odd blue robes and sandals and bracers in the same fashion.

She was like an unmovable statue, her gaze fixed on the house across the street. Nothing seemed too out of the ordinairy with it. It looked like any other, but her expression was grim.

"Are you sure this is where?" A clearly masculine voice asked from the shadows behind her, a pair of yellow eyes lighting up, but that was the only thing that was visible on him, they glowed dimly in the dark"Looks like an ordinairy place to me...". He sounded distinctly bored and rather unimpressed, as though he wanted to be anywhere but there right now.

"Positive" The felines voice was slightly dusky and low pitched"You can't see it because you're a neutral entity..." she cast a sideways glance at him" A demon would smell it immidiately.. and well... there's an aura around it.". The yellow eyes widened in what could only be mocking, what with the male's next words oozing with sarcasm" is that so... well then... best we clear it out then.".

"As you say" the feline replied, not seeming at all effected by the male's biting tone as she extended an arm, a long blue staff with orbs dancing around it in a bright cyan color forming in her hand, aligning with her extended arm" lets do this quick and quie-".

At that moment the door exploded outward, some of the sharpnel hitting some of the park cars sending car alarms blaring. Dark shapes darting across the street and more pourring out.

"So much for quietly" the male muttered and his equaly dark shape darted across the street towards the house. "Great, just great, they opened a portal in the middle of the friggin city" The feline snapped as she followed.

Ah, the ever-lasting enjoyment of a good night's sleep. After a whole day of hard work, one can finally rest his bones, bury himself in a blanket and let the world solve its problems by itself for a few hours. A silent night would be a perfect way to end a week's worth of hard work, but unfortunately for Margaret, this was not the case.

Like lady bad luck would have it, her saturday did not start well when a loud noise awoke her from her mellow, yet very-needed sleep. She worked hard for these moments of rest, but now that she woken up from her slumber, her bloodshot eyes filled with the fury of a goddess, she had only one thing in her mind - to make the ones who did it pay.

In her half-asleep state, her idea of punishment was creaming really loud and doing as much noise as possible, with much less emphasis on actually hurting anyone with her fists. Those few men that dared to mess with her ended up in a pretty rough shape when they mistaked her for a man, partly due to her tomboish nature and partly due to her not resorting to 'girly' things, namely, dressing pretty and wearing makeup.

She walked out on the street, as that was where she had heard the loud explosion. Her blurry vision slowly got together and almost immediately, she saw that her car was damaged by something. She looked around for anyone to whom she could attribute the action to and found two jaywalkers who seemed really out of place.

First there was a feline, as far as her eyes could tell and then, there was this mysterious someone someone she couldn't see very clearly. Nevertheless, her courage got the best of her and she started walking to them. Maybe if she was fully awake, she'd at least hesitate.

"Hey!" she let out, "Did you do this to mah car? I'll tell ya that tha thing wasn't cheap! Not at all, ma'am!"

The feline halted while her companion simply streaked right past margaret, his cloak making a snapping sound as it cracked through the air behind him, billowing out like wings. He took off after one of the black shapes. There was a flash of metal flickering in the moonlight, an unearthly cry and then silence as he darted after the next shape.

The feline grimaced at margaret. " Oh great... now I have to do damage control too, nothings ever easy...". She took a deep breath and pulled herself up straight in an authorative manner" Listen miss, I'm going to have to ask you to leave the area. We've got shit hitting all over the proverbial fan.."

She getured to the house with its door ripped from the hinges and the ugly pulsing purple portal behind it" I didn't wreck your car, but something tells me the perps ain't going to be paying you any repairs. We're here to contain the damage as much as possible.. and I need to close that thing there so if you'll excuse me..." she started towards it, staff extended and at the ready.

Now that she was finally woken up and up to her senses, she had doubts on whether following them was even a good idea. She stopped after the feline told her the situation and looked back at her house. Return or not to return? Was the explanation the feline offered her enough? After thinking about it briefly, she came to a conclusion.

No, it wasn't. It was just the tip of the iceberg and, she wanted to know the cold, hard truth. And so, instead of going back to her home like she should have, she followed the feline and her mysterious friend, pulling out her trusty firearm as she did. "Ah don't care what's the danger,' she let out. "I wanna see just what the hell's going on."

She was sure they would now force her to back away and go home, but she'd go with them anyway. If her brief service in the army taught her anything, it's to not be afraid to go where are others are afraid to go and undo wrong. Or something like that. It all became a little fuzzy after she was discharged and went to work as a worker, putting building together from raw materials. Nevertheless, the bravery and determination stayed and she wanted to get to the bottom of this whole situation.

The feline didn't seem to notice that she wasn't going back to her house but was instead moving to check out the danger. She was right though, even if she had noticed she didn't have the time to go about dragging stuborn people back to safety. Her companion in the main time had pounced again and again something screamed its death scream.

In the light of the portal, some of the creatures were outlined. It wasn't that the dark concealed their features, they simply didn't have them. They had roughly mobian shapes that barely allowed for an identification of gender or species but other than that they were yet black and looked almost like living tar. Living tar with very sharp teeth.

Something rose up behind margaret, extending talons before a black spike of sorts shot right through its chest and it screamed and writhed on the black spike that had pierced it, only to get pierced by more in numerous places.

It seemed the felines companion had circled around. Yellow glowing eyes regarding her steadily from under the cowl of his hood" If you are going to get involved... best be prepared to kill or be killed" he drawled at her, as calm and cold as ice, before he again moved" Holly will take care of the portal.. but I could use a hand killing the suckers that make it through... or these thing will start being a handfull and prey on innocent people".

The mole merely nodded upon hearing what the feline's companion told her. She took what he told her as an order and almost immediately turned the safety off on her pistol. Then, she started shooting at whatever wasn't the feline or her faithful companion. It was going along pretty well, but then, she noticed something even more out of place.

Out of nowhere, a pair of two glowing dots appeared in the distance in front of her. Startled, she shot at them, but instead of producing the now-common death scream, the dots merely disappeared and reappeared closer to her. "What is that thing?!" she shouted. "I can't bring it down!"

When you shoot something and it dies, that's usually a good sign. However, when you shoot something and it gets closer, something's not exactly right. Whatever it was, it either moved fast enough to dodge bullets or was outright immune to them. Both of those options were bad, but nevertheless, she tried her best to hold the line and not let anything pass. The odd creature only seemed to get close when shot at and so, she focused solely on taking down every other creature that was trying to escape the street.

The figure in his black cloak grit his teeth at the approaching lights, which he assumed to be eyes. That most definitely wasn't a mirror. But it moved as easily throught the shadows as he did. Which was problematic. He wouldn't be able to pull the mole through the shadows to safety or the thing was likely to gain an advantage from it.

" Holly!" he belowed and the feline spun, taking note of the situation in a split second and a pair of pure white wings shimmered into existence on her back, spreading widely as she raised her staff." Cover your eyes" her male companion snapped at margaret, then hurried to follow his own advice.

Bright light burst forth from the felines staff, white light that burned away all the shadows and that lit up the neighbourhood like it was under an enormous spotlight. Even with his eyes closed the hooded figure seemed to find it painfull, hissing under his breath.

Margaret proceeded to shield her eyes, but even then, it shone so brigthly that it was nearly unbearable. It reminded her of her training, in particular, the non-lethal part. The army had plenty of things to use to paralyse or disable someone, but one of the most useful ones were flashbangs. They were roughly the size of a potato and when thrown, temporarily blinded everyone in a small radius. Nevertheless, the light they produced wasn't as potent as this.

Oddly enough, the two lights disappeared without a trace, leaving nothing to attribute them to. However, even if they weren't seen, Margaret was still assured that they were there.
