Slate is the son of the True Dark Lord, or at least was at one time. Slate was born a bastard. The True Dark Lord chose the high priestess of his largest temple to be the bearer of his son. He was named on birth Bathelus. Slate spent his early years being trained in the dark forces. After ten years of his life had gone by, his father began to tell him of his destiny. He was to become the ruler of the dark realm in ten more years. His whole reason for creating Slate was to be a replacement. Slate, at first, liked the idea, so for five more years trained  in the dark world. Though, over time the promises of power had gone to his head. He wanted to be ruler now, not have to wait five more years. He made a plan to discreetly kill his own father. It went catastrophically wrong. His father had learned of his plans and had him banished. Slate was transported to earth with his staff, bow, and a stone slab, which marks where he was banished to on Earth. The slab also marks him as Slate, the exiled. That is how he got his current name. It has been three years since that day. He still hunts for a way back to the Dark Realm. As apart of his banishment, his father put a curse on him so that if anyone said his name on his birthday, he would be forced to go into their service.
